i seriously hope you're kidding mario. if you can't realize that dallas clark helped pave the way for dynamic, down the field receiving tight ends like owen daniels, then i don't even know what to say. you have watched him tear apart great defenses, including the texans as of late. give the man some respect, because of him, owen daniels has a job in this league.

i have the most respect for dallas clark but he's trying a little to hard to be like O.D. he needs to just be him self

lol i think these new TE's in this day and age are alot better than those old TE's

Well let's take a closer look, keep in mind some of these seasons were only 14 games

Mike Ditka, 5 time Pro Bowl, 43 career TDs, in 1961 averaged over 19 yards every time he touched the ball, best season 12 TDs, also played defense where he had a few TDs as well and he ran back punts

Todd Christensen, 5 time ProBowl, 3 Time AllPro, 3 seasons over 1000 yds, best season 1247 yds and 12 TDs

Dave Casper, 5 time proBowl, 4 Time AllPro, 2 seasons with 10 or more TDs

Ozzie Newsome, 3 Time Pro Bowler, 7980 yds receiving, 662 reception with 47 TDs

Shannon Sharpe, 8 time ProBowl, 4 time All pro, 815 receptions, 10060 yds, 62 TDs, averaged over 12 yds every time he touched the ball

Kellen Winslow 5 time Pro Bowl, 3 time All Pro, 541 receptions, 6741 yds, 45 TDs

Out of all those Stats, tell me has Owen Daniels done any of those things 4 years in the league only 15 TDs and only one ProBowl no First team AllPro and the dude is hurt and getting older.

Yes, a few of the modern day tight ends are in that league, Tony Gonzales, Antonio Gates, Jason Witten. But not Owen Daniels.

You young guys think you invented the Y-Flex Tight End position.

The guys who paved the way, changed the game, that was Mike Ditka, Tom Landry, and Coryell, not Dallas Clark.

This thread has certainly opened my eyes to a couple of things.

1. Iron Mike Ditka may be the best tight end ever.

2. Shannon Sharpe blows away the competition when you look at West Coast ballers and Y-Flex tight ends.

3. Tony Gonzales is the best tight end currently in the game.

This is the third time he has blown his ACL.
He has also blown an MCL.
He may or may not be the same.
He may or may not be injury prone.

Those old school TE's would NOT tell you he is one of the best, he hasn't earned that kind of recognition yet. One good season does not make you one of the best.

lol i didn't know he had all those injuries HAHA but he's still a beast and is one of the best.

good route runner got nice hands he can make those tough catches in traffic and makes alot of plays down feild like a wr and you know that spectacular one handed catch that clark made O.D. can do that to.

i would say clark is #1 no dought about that and Owen Daniels is some where in the top 5

You cannot be top five, sitting on the sidelines for half the season

it don't matter if a player is hurt he can still be one of the elite even when tom brady was hurt he still was concidered the best

owens is and always be a second rate TE
