| kid named carlos carrassco. he's going to be a really good pitcher, i think. pretty sure he's still in the phillies organization. one of the main reasons halladay didn't come here was because toronto wanted him (and j.a. happ, who will be very good, too). | |

| was he in the lee trade? i wasn't sure, but yeah, that makes sense, considering how much lee was worth. | |

| Yea he was in the lee trade I think. He got called up last week but I forgot to check the box score to see how he did.. What's wrong with cliff lee now? Lights out for 6 or 7 starts in philly and now his last 2 starts like 6 innings 12 er combined.. The NL seems to sway in the favor of a different team every week.. | |

| that's the definition of the NL. constant swaying. lee is so puzzling, but everyone is allowed to have a couple bad starts. as long as he's dynamite in the playoffs, i could care less! i'm more worried about lidge. looked amazing the last couple save opps, then this! bases-loaded, two outs and a hit to kaz matsui. i just want some consistency!! | |

| Very true. The Dodgers looked like the team to beat, but they fell off.
Colorado returning to a 2nd World Series in 3 years wouldn't surprise me either. Nothing does with the NL anymore.
The Yankees are kicking ass and taking names this year, but this decade, they seem to decline in September and/or October. I'm not sold on them at all.

GO YANKEES 2009 WORLDSERIES CHAMPS!!!!!!!
Pettitte and Burnett are having so-so seasons. Your pitching's overrated. The only reason you win games any more is because you have 3897423 guys who hit home runs. Power hitting's gonna bite you in the ass in the playoffs, watch.

I'm not sure about Kevin Bonderman and Nate Robertson, but they usually hold their own. Our bullpen's been on fire this year, and Fernando Rodney gets out of jams a lot. We get hot at the right time, we may rep the AL this year. And I think it will happen. The Yankees don't impress me. They live and die by swinging for the fences.

| I hate the Yankees, but I'm not stupid enough to discredit them simply because they hit a lot of home runs. After going through a rough patch to start the season, they have been the most consistent team in baseball. Their offense is insane and their pitching does enough to help them win game after game after game. Quit being a homer and face the facts. | |

| @Ketchum: Until they actually get out of the first round, they don't impress me. Their pitching and defense disappear when they don't need to (EI: today's game against Toronto earlier)
I really don't see this team making the World Series with the same issues.
I'm not being a homer at all, I gave at least two, maybe three, valid reasons why they won't make it.

| **** the yanks!! Haha I just had to say that but they are the best team in baseball and have been for the past 3 months.. I think detroits pitching staff is good but I don't trust them more then the angels, yankees or red sox rotations.. JEREMY Bonderman can pitch real good or real bad but he is the #4 pitcher so that's what most #4s are expected to be.. Washburn is the one I don't trust.. He's had a great season yes but since coming to the tigers he's only had one good start and one ok start, his good one was at home against KC.. Everyone can look good against KC... Edwin jackson and verlander are straight fire as a 1-2 punch though... Its too bad they will both most likely be pitching at yankee stadium in the first round of the playoffs against that yankee lineup unless texas comes back and wins the wildcard and not boston.. I really don't see anyone stopping the yanks this year but I refuse to say crown them already... Upsets happen just like when the mariners won 100+ games and got bounced by the yanks in the first round in like 2001 or whatever year it was... Its why they play the games.. And arod is terrible in october by the way... Haha had to throw that in there.. | |

| Exactly. I've been very disappointed in Washburn, he's injured now too. But anything can happen...I have a lot of faith in my Tigers this year, more than I ever have.. | |

| Plus, we've had a knack for beating the Angels all season, but the Yankees have given us fits. So did they in 2006, but we beat them in 4 that year. You never know. | |

| Steve phillips was on mike and mike right now and was asked who if anyone should scare the yankees and his answer was detroit.. He said the yanks swept detroit this year in NY but the games were 3-2, 2-1 type games and that's the yankees worst fear is games like that in october.. Verlanders career vs the yanks 1.29 era, edwin jacksons era vs the yanks 1.79... I think that's what phillips said.. That does sound like the yanks should have a little fear or awareness that they better be prepared to have a tough series in round one.. And then phillips said the red sox should scare them too cuz rivalries sometimes overcomes talent on the field and if beckett gets right the yanks will have to go through a tough pitching staff in both rounds of the AL playoffs.. I love steve phillips right now.. The yanks crush my spirit with every win and phillips has renewed my faith, I'm ready for boston-yankee ALCS.. Or even a boston-detroit ALCS... | |

| Detroit is in first place in the central and as long as boston wins the wildcard detroit will play NY in round one ina 5 game series.. Yanks would face verlander and jackson in games one and two and be down 2 games to none heading to Detroit for the next 2 games and detroit would only need one more win.. Its possible with how good verlander and jackson have been vs NY in heir careers.... | |

| Boston Beaner: I would love for us to shut everyone about the Yankees, and Justin and Edwin have been so clutch in the playoffs against NYY. Washburn and Porcello, I'm worried about though...
If the Angels beat the Red Sox in the playoffs, we're going to the World Series if we beat the Yankees. No cockiness, but we give the Angels so many fits.
