QB Drop-Back, user control or computer controlled?

I am having the most difficult time dropping back for either 3, 5, or 7 step drop back without having a defender get to me. I wanted to know if anyone sprint backwards pass the ball or do you allow the computer to drop back for you?

i like to have the computer do it. because if its a short pass like slants then he will do a 3 step drop, then for longer passes he does a 5-7 step. and he drops back way faster. it really helps me stay in the pocket and i seem to get more time to pass.

I usually let the COM do it too, it seems as though the computerized movements are quicker than manually stepping backwards.... yet another thing that doesn make any sense maybe its just a visual trick that happens because im not pressing any buttons yet so it seems faster...
