madden 10 online franchise sign up thread (ps3)

I hope I don't screw this league up with the schedule and ish. I like the salary cap idea too, but lets set it so that whatever team has the most points is the highest point value we can have. So if the pats are the highest with 329, then that's the the highest we should be able to go, cuz it's not fair to the guy who gets the patriots for him to have to drop guys when the patriots get to keep their guys in real life.

LOL..Man thats a great idea. Since we're doing a fantasy draft what ever team has the most points at the end of the draft will be the starting cap # and then we can increase it a certain percentage each year afterward. My dumba$$ was going to wait till the game drops and run through about 10 drafts against the computer and then try to come up with a fair #.

As far as schedules go we can do 2,3 or 4 games a week. Its up to you guys. Realize though that the more seasons you get through the more fun the league will be. 3 is probably the best way to go. But if we have to many players with schedule issues we may just have to do 2.

yeah im liking this idea caus if we get the right amount of ppl play the right anout of games then this well be good hopefully get through a season in a month and a half or less so we can feel the full effect of this thing...its there will be more even with some ppl having a better roster than other but it will be great

I'm sure Eazy and Swag will join plus a few other fools will straggle in late. So we should end up with around 20 when we open it up to the public which is great for the league. I know a couple of you guys mentioned you played franchise leagues in the past so if you have any ideas please post them. Or if anyone has any ideas please post.

I think we need to have all the rules in place by 8/1 and open it up to the public at the time. The league can start whenever you guys want it to. I would suggest having the draft 1-2 weeks after the game drops to ensure all the bugs are worked out and everyone has a chance to get a feel for the game. Because the last thing you want to do is have a draft and something gets f'd up and we have to start over.


The first thing we need to decide is how many games a week we should play. Basically the choices are going to be 2,3 or 4. I prefer 3 but I also want to keep it a level that everyone can keep pace with. If everyone feels comfortable with 4 we need to do it. I wont play online all year if that the case. But if because of scheduling conflicts and other obligations the most everyone can only do is 2 Im fine with that also. Just realize to get the full benefit of the franchise we need to get through as many seasons as possible.



Here is what the schedule will look like

2 games/week
-------------
Sun, Mon,Tues,Wed-Week 1
Thurs, Fri, Sat- Week 2
etc....

3 games/week
--------------
Sun,Mon-Week 1
Tues,Wed, Thurs- Week2
Fri, Sat- Week 3
etc..

4 games/week
---------------
Sun,Mon- Week 1
Tues,Wed,- Week 2
Thurs,Fri- Week 3
Sat- Week 4
etc...


So if everyone can please post what schedule they would prefer that would be great. That way we can get a general consensus and roll with it. And if you have any different ideas on how the schedule could work better please post.

3 games a week is doable...i wonder if we can simulate games just incase someone falls behind

if people can't keep up with the schedule...boot them from the league

that is a roger...we also need to get a free agency schedule as well so vote on that too fellas

If anyone has to miss a game his opponent can play the computer. We are all going to miss games throughout the year whether it be for work, school, or vacations. EA gave the commissioner all types of tools at their disposal so we'll be straight if people miss or dropout or whatever.

ya everyone will have a time when they just wont be able to get there game in. It should all even out in the end.

Yea I was going to let everyone discuss and vote on the games/week this week. Then next week hit trades and free agency.

Jwhite, I love your salary cap system! My only minor suggestion is that QB's should be worth more and Punters and Kickers should be worth less. Rob Bironas should not be as much of a cap hit as Eli Manning is.

Great point Mcnair! Thats a great catch! I'll post Trades/Free agency choices on Fri and after we decide which direction we want to go we can start putting some numbers to it. I hope everyone that is planning on playing will post their opinions so that we can make this the best league possible.

One more thing: Progression happens in the middle of the season so unless a player is cut into free agency I don't think his cap number should be able to change over the course of a season. If a player is a 79 and progresses to an 80something his cap number shouldnt just magically go up one right in the middle of a season, likewise for regression.

Can we move this to Madden General Talk now that we've gotten all the exclusive members that want to join at the moment. I'm sure we'll get guys like Eazy and Swag to join eventually, but they don't wanna join up just yet.

Actually Mcnair progression/regression happens after the Super Bowl at the end of the year. There was a thread over at OS a few of weeks ago dealing with this issue. Everyone was wanting progression/regression to take place every week or at least every 4th week like the old Ps2 days. But one of the guys from EA came in and said it happens once a year at the end of the year after the Super Bowl. Teams that are in the playoffs get progression points and the deeper in the playoff hunt you go the more progression points you get.. I'll post the link on Friday. I'm about to go to work and heading out with my girl this evening..

What about the player updates throughout the season? Are the points based on just drafting and cutting free agents before the season starts or what? Would suck if someone drafted a sleeper and they improved throughout the season and eventually put them over the cap.
