46 defense all the way. It shuts down the run, has great blitzes, and with good stick skills at safety, you can have great coverage. But you have to know your teams strengths and weaknesses. Maybe your team isn't well suited for the 46. Maybe you have to adjust your lineup to provide better pressure or coverage. Go try a few defenses in practice mode.

For starters try using the Baltimore D. It has some 46 Normal and 3-4 while you get used to the 46.

I practiced with the dolphins the other day, I fell in love with the 3-4. I'm not a really good defense guy, I'm more of a offense guy. I tell you what, after my franchise season with the colts, im going to use the phins and practice somemore, so i can get better using a 3-4, i was stopping the run and pass out of the same package, i did get burned a few times having 4 LB's chasing a quick wr, sometimes you get burned but practice makes prefect.

well, pitt is a 3-4 base... you might just want to practice with someone a LOT better than you, it will fine tune that defense... the 3-4 scheme is ridiculously effective if you can run it

The jets D is the Shnizzle. I use the nickel as a base an mix some 3-4 in. 1-5-5 for run stop. And run odd split for passing downs assuming the guy doesnt constantly hit his HBacks. If yu can help me out with any 3-4 plays for me to mix in id appreciate it. Deuces

The 3-4 is the best base defense out there you just have to know how to use it if you can figure out how to get a good mix of blitzes man and zone and then zone coverage then it is deadly.

3-4 over
sting pinch zone
1 move blitzing mlb over the dt (slightly to the right)
2 reblitz dt
3 put blitzing lolb into coverage -i prefer purple zone or man up w/ slot wr or te
3a I usually sub in a ss at lolb for the 34 over
4. bring fs up closer to los to cover a quick throw to that side of the field

-the blitzing rolb should get in if they pinch the line
