When to protect ball?

I was curious how often and when you guys are holding the RB button for xbox to protect the ball like I'm not sure if ppl hold the button on all their runs its hard enough to run as it is so I don't want to slow down my backs plus I never use it for my receivers just curious what you guys do since fumbles seem to be game changers for me in a bad way. thanks in advance

i hold it when im running down the clock

i hold it every time i'm getting tackled while i'm flicking the right joy stick

I hold it as soon as I make the catch and in the open field when I'm running also about a yard be fore I'm hit and while trucking

when??? ALWAYS!!! lol jus playin that what my old RB coach woulda told ya. lol but yea i like these peoples answers if theres any doubt in your mind that you might get hit sticked or fumble then ya cover it up ball security is the #1 priority or at least it is to me. lol "dont drop the baby"
