Im sure most of you have realized over the last few years that online is played more, or at least more popular than vs cpu play. Even those who hate online, hate it because of the glitching and cheesing and nano'ing crap. I mean look at NCAA this year. Did anyone jump for joy or give a rats a$$ because they added Erin Andrews? No, it was a waste of their time and money that could have gone to gameplay. Here is an idea for EA to fix online play for both Madden and NCAA.
Create a Hardcore Online play.
- When playing hardcore, do what they do with the Dline to all positions. Meaning, you can control a Dlineman and move him anywhere, but once you leave him, he'll go back to original position before the snap. Do that with ALL positions. This will almost all but negate nano'ing while still allow the moving of all positions before the snap using the standard shift and audible keys(Dline shift left, LB shift right, Show DB Blitz, etc). Now, someone can still take a lb or db and move them to position to nano, but howmany people would be willing to nano with no user coverage? Not a one. Quick slants and rb's outta backfield would destroy even the best Madden player out there if they can't user cover them themselves.
- Then have standard play, which is basicallly what we play now for all those who like nano'ing, moving players and whatnot.
Another Idea, which can't be implemented this year for obvious reasons, is to change the mechanics of the defense. EA did a great job with offensive player mechanics, meaning for the most part, you can't just change directions, momemtum comes into play and you can get slowed down and spin/juke moves just don't work that much when you try. The problem is this doesn't apply to the defensive side. Someone can still take a saftey, bring them to the line, get sucked in on playaction, and STILL turn a 360 and run straight back and cover 3/4ths of the field. They need to make it, if you user a db, bring him to the line on a run playaction or whatnot, you can't just turn and sprint backwards. Even TE's burn Ed Reed if he bites on playaction. I can user cover in a cover 3 the entire field almost, just like most experienced players, and I'm sick of it.
Next, FIX THE HIT STICK or get rid of it. I can hit stick the other guy 99% of every play every time. The reason is, its a stupid animation, and we all know how animations work in Madden throughout the years. If i run at you, yet turn the other way and you go by me, it won't matter cause the Hit stick animation has already kicked it, you will violate the laws of physics and get a huge Hit on a offensive player, even though all momentum is carrying you the other way. Hit Sticks need to occur when you hit them dead on, and you played it perfectly. Then to compensate for the less Hit Sticks, increase the fumble and injury chances if you succeed. Even the best stick out there, which I consider myself one of um, won't be able to land many Big Hits on a player juking and whatnot.
- which brings me to another issue with hitstick. It ALWAYS overrides the Juke or truck option to the offense. Maybe once every 3 games a player can truck me or juke me if I use Hit stick properly, and its just sad and unrealistic. Running outta bounds and hoping for a personal foul has become my new favorite passtime.
Pass Commit/Run Commit -
- I like it more this year than the past unlike most of you because its a little more realistic. However, it would be better with them, if they were done properly. The main issue was you could pass committ all day, shut down al playaction, and yet still stuff the run. EA needs to make it so if you call pass commit, the D all but ignores the rb and goes for the qb. This will stop people from only running a all playaction offense, yet allowing you to burn a D that just pass commits all day. For those of you who played NCAA this year, thats a perfect example of how to NOT run a Run/Pass commit system. But i'd rather No pass commit and a failed pass commit system.
I hope noone takes these as rants or bitching, they are more ideas to make a game ive been playing since 92 better. Online is where its at now, and if we could make it so actually skill with the game is important instaed of what glitch play or nano D you can run is, I'd never leave my house. It would also mean your ranking and skill level actually means somehting. Theres no way to stop cheating online, ever. But these would help bigtime. I do think this is by far away the best football gm avail, its just so dissapointing when Madden is plagued every year with same glitches and issues and they aren't addressed. Although, I sure don't miss the days a few years ago when you'd take a tall wr with high spec catch and just precision up pass and they over jump everyone. I love this Madden!!!
