| Play as your DE if you know what side the guy will be throwing them. Try to to blitz if it is a HB screen because it will get big yardage. Always be on the out look for them. You can read them by the look of the oline. | |

| When defending against screens stay away from blitz packages. When you blitz you take away help from the corners or linebackers down field looking to get through block and make a play. Try putting your DE's in a flat zone and running a flat zone with your cornerbacks i.e. cover 2 or cover 2 zone. Putting your DE in contain can work however several times your DE will set up his contain 2-3 yards off the LOS which means once the catch is made he very well may get cleaned out by a blocking thus defeating his purpose. Flat zone usually puts the end underneath the blocks and right in front the RB or WR waiting for the screen. And DO NOT run zone defenses that play off of the LOS! i.e. cover 4 and some cover 3. When you run those plays the corner will sit in his zone about five yards off the LOS and you'll get hung up on a block when you try to make a play after the catch has already been made. Man coverage with Bump 'N Run coverage works very well also because the corner will actually follow the WR down under the blocks while they're setting up. Oh and one more thing when to get the pre-snap read on a screen alot of users like to run it out of the shotgun usually in the Trey Open formation with three WR's and a TE on the side the screen is going to. Hope this helps later guys.
