Flat Combo

How do you defend this the flat combo...it is in the shotgun playbook for Tennessee. It has flat routes for the halfback and full back with a curl route for the tight end. There is always somebody open from what I can see. Cover 2 doesn't work neither does cover 2 buc. I've tried tightening coverage and putting my lb's in zone, but without manually controlling the middle linebacker the tight end is open consistently.

Man Coverage and put your LB's next to the DE's, so they will already be in position for the pass.

try the 5-2 cover 2. before tyhe snap put your dt in a hook zone so when the te is in his curl route the de will be in his face. also dont forget to put the other dt in a deep zone so if he goes deep you wont be fucked. thats the only downside to that play

im a little confused... youre actually suggesting to people to use DT's in pass coverage both in hooks and deep...???

YOU WANT TO STOP FLAT COMBO...???

run Nickel covers 2 press... OR nickel cover 2... i prefer the zone b/c you can walk them down to look like press the CB on the outside guy which is ALWAYS the curl combo guy for this route will be playing short outside flats... he will be floating around waiting for the pass...

dont resort to cheap hot routes from DT's youre only going to screw yourself big time...
