162) Nickel Normal – Buck Slant 3 – (Nano)
a) Have a fast DB at Nickel Back and a fast LB at LOLB.
b) Freeze the Defense. Bump and Run.
c) Shift the defensive line to the left. Shift the LB’S to the right.
d) Place the ROLB in a hook zone and the LOLB to blitz.
e) Have the DT over the Center blitz straight down.
f) Place the RDE, left side of screen, to blitz straight down.
h) Place the Nickel Back right over the WDT’S left arm, right by the LG.
i) Manually Use the LOLB to blitz when the ball is snapped.
163) Nickel Normal – Silver Shoot Pinch – (Nano)
a) Have a fast DB at Nickel Back and a fast LB at LOLB.
b) Press Coverage Audible + d-pad down.
c) Shift the defensive line to the left. Shift the LB’S to the right.
d) Place the ROLB in a hook zone and the LOLB to blitz.
e) Have the DT over the Center blitz straight down.
f) Place the RDE, left side of screen, to blitz straight down.
g) Place the Nickel Back right over the WDT’S left arm, right by the LG.
h) Manually Use the LOLB to blitz when the ball is snapped.
164) Nickel Normal – SS Zone Blitz
a) Have your fastest DB at Nickel Back.
b) Bump and Run. Then Coverage Audible + d-pad down.
c) Place the SS on a hook zone.
d) Shift the defensive line to the left. Blitz the LB’S.
e) Place your ROLB, left side of TV Screen, next to the RDE (side by side).
f) Have the DT in front of the Center to blitz straight down.
g) Also place the Nickel Back next to the RDE.
h) Manually User control the LOLB, right side of TV screen, place him next to the LDE and use him to
blitz.
165) Nickel Normal – Nickel Fire (Nano)
a) Pick any Dime play with LB Pass Rush Package.
b) Audible to Nickel Normal Nickel Fire.
c) Show Blitz. Shift the defensive line right.
d) Blitz the LB’S.
e) Re-blitz the DT that is right above the Center.
f) Shade the DB’S out.
g) Place the Nickel Back a couple of yards from the DE.
h) Place the blitzing DB in the B gap (you want him to be fast).
166) Nickel 1-5-5 Cover 3 – One Way
a) Man Align the defense. Shift the defensive line left.
b) Pinch the LB’S. Place the DT to QB Contain.
c) Place the LB (2nd LB from far right and place him closer to the DT.
d) Place the LB you moved to a QB Contain.
e) Place the MLB to a QB Spy. Move the MLB closer to the DT.
f) Back the Coverage Up. Shade the Safety’s going toward the left.
g) Manually control the SS to cover the field to look for slants, post routes, curls, etc.
This defense is great against the Shotgun and if they run, then use the run commit. Practice and see if this
play works for you.
167) Nickel 1-5-5 Cover 3 – Another Way
a) Pinch the LB’S.
b) Shift the DT on the defensive line to the left.
c) Place the LB’S on the light blue zones guarding the flats, to purple zones.
This set up will allow you to have eight men in coverage while giving decent pressure on the QB.
168) Nickel 1-5-5 Cover 3 – Against the Curl Route
a) Pinch the LB’S. Place the LB’S in yellow zones.
b) Shift the DT on the defensive line left. Spread out the LB’S.
c) Have your CB and SS on the left side of TV screen to blitz.
d) Place the DT and 2nd MLB in purple zones. Place the FS to guard deep.
169) Nickel 1-5-5 Sam Snake
a) Bump and Run.
b) Have the 2nd MLB blitz.
c) Manually cover the deep ball with the FS. Use Pass Commit.
This should bring heat on the right side of the QB.
170) Nickel 1-5-5 Inside Zone Blitz - Nano
a) Freeze the Defense. Bump and Run.
b) Have the Nickel Back Blitz.
c) (Optional) Place the CB’S in short zones.
d) Manually User Control to guard the middle. Use Pass Commit.
