| One of Madden-School's most friendliest, active, and out going members, Ketcham While They're Hot, is going through some hard times right now. About 5 of us were in the chatbox today when Rob logged in and told us the news that his father might have just been diagnosed with lung cancer. He informed us that all the details were not clear at this time, but it seems as if the cancer is at a late stage. So please, whenever you see Ketcham While They're Hot, just let him know that you are fighting for his father.
Your Father Will Be In My Prayers Rob.

| damnit.
sorry, ketcham. i wish there was more we could say or do. i mean... im sure you'll hear a lot of "words of wisdom" over the next few days and weeks, and i hope some how, some way, some of that will help you. let us know if theres anything any of us could do... even if thats not mentioning it when you come in here. like we can be a place to just have a moment of something else beside drama, even if that moment doesn't last long.
just keep your sanity man, and do everything you have to do right now. god speed.

| I will pray for you and your family Rob. The only thing I can tell you is what you probably already know. Just be there for him for anything. He is about to go through some horrible times with any treatment method he chooses. Keep me updated if you don't mind. | |

| This past Monday, we finally got the results and they confirmed that my dad has small cell lung cancer. I've done my research and only 15 percent of people with lung cancer get this type. It's called small cell lung cancer because the cells are small and more likely to spread, thus explaining why it had already spread to his liver and his adrenal glands by the time they found it.
When I looked it up, there are two stages to small cell lung cancer--limited and extensive. Because it already spread, his is classified as extensive, which is as bad as it can get. Not only is he inoperable, but even with chemo and radiation, the general life expectancy of someone in his situation is 8 to 10 months.
At the moment, I'm taking the news pretty hard. I never thought I would have to deal with something like this so early. Still, I am spending as much time with him as possible and that's all I can really do. I really appreciate everyone's support and I will most definitely keep everyone updated.

| Ya know the doctors always predict way shorter than they'll actually live, cause then you'll be so happy when they live longer than that, but you won't be sad if they only live that long.
My point is, you're dad will probably live longer than the doc said.
life my grandma had a brain injury thing, they said she had a 5% chance of making it out of the hospital alive, which she did, then they said she only had another year to live, and 4 years later she's still here.
