Rex Grossman Signs With Texans
Grossman passed his physical Friday and signed a one-year contract worth $620,000 with the Houston Texans. Team officials said Grossman will not meet with the media to discuss the new deal until the Texans’ mini-camp Monday and the former Bears quarterback hasn’t responded to messages seeking comment.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, however, did react to the news via Twitter.
“He is excited about the opportunity to have a fresh start with the Texans,’’ Rosenhaus said.
Grossman will join the Texans as the No. 3 quarterback behind Dan Orlovsky and starter Matt Schaub. The Texans signed Orlovsky to a free-agent contract in March and gave him a $2.4 million bonus so he won’t be easily supplanted as Schaub’s backup. Still, Grossman gets the chance for a fresh start Rosenhaus referenced and the 28-year-old quarterback sought.
Interesting signing. Honestly when I was watching that Bears Colts super bowl, I think I remember thinking that by this time this guy would be MVP material.
