| With the college level coaches tailoring their offense to fit their players, there is a huge difference in the college game and the league game. The league does have a few teams who are high flyers, who look to put up points instead of controlling the game and making the other team beat them. The NFL is an entertainment business and teams perception should be B**** STOP ME not see if u can score. The college game is more dedicated as a showcase (which it should be). Coaches need to just bow down to this 1 just like they have done to the wildcat formation. The spread offense is hard to stop because of the key word SPREAD. now the way the league is with alot of 1 on 1 defense to the outside which opens up the inside of the field for the TE and slot WR. The outside WR's (1's and 2's) have to dominate the opponents to get the ball which isnt't easy in the league but be real ppl it can be done. The spread gives the QB's a chance to survey the field easier and for the longer period of time because blitzing gives more 1 on 1 defense that the offensive players wins 70% of the time. With wr's and TE's reading the blitz as well makes that percentage go up. Teams look down on qb's and wr's who benefit from a system that make even a mediocre players look like football gods BUT is that not the ideal situation for any team any player. The NFL is made up of old KNOW-IT-ALLS who are stubborn and stuck in there ways. The only coaches who are adaptive is defensive coordinators. NFL offensives are steadily evolving to make the defensive coordinators adapt. You never hear a defensive player being called a system player. | |

| Im with you on this one buddah. I think sooner or later the NFL will adapt the spread. Maybe not entirely as an entire offenesive scheme but it will make its way to the NFL. Gruden is already studying everthing he can on the spread to see how he can incorporate it. As more and more teams will look for new ways to attack Defenses in different ways the spread will make its way to the NFL. | |

| yeah no doubt gator..i heard that as well and i am glad he is trying to do that...i forgot where gruden is to study on it if its on florida i believe. regardless tho, the fact that it is a dominate scheme and defenses have trouble with it especially with speedy guys makes its a weapon for who ever can incorporate it in there scheme..the teams that i can come up with that i see who run some sort of version of it is NE of course and PHI and DAL | |

| he has been traveling to all the college schools that run the spread the best. He spent some time at Oregon, of course Univ of Florida, i think he is gonna hit up OKla St, and Univ Mich, not cus Mich was good last year but Rich Rodriguez is a very good spread coach and its gonna take Mich a couple years to get their recruits in and workin the spread effectively. Mich didnt have the Athletes that Florida had when Urban Meyer took over and won the Nat title in his second year at florida. No doubt its an exciting time in football and i think we will see some spread incorporated more and more over the next few years. Houston already runs a zone blocking scheme which is what most of the run blocking is out of the spread. NE could def run the spread as far as passing spread. other teams that could take advantage of it would be Dal and Phi like you said, Oakland, Houston, Jax, Mia, Minn, Pitt, Wash would probably be the teams best suited to take advantage of a spread attack. I just cant wait till someone gives it a shot, i think it will be put in a bunch of peoples playbooks. I know Gruden wants to incorporate it into his West Coast Offense since a lot of the throws in the spread game are similar to the West Coast. I don't think the Gruden is going to be Unemployed to much longer either 2010 or 2011 he will be coaching a team again. | |

| i agree with u about gruden i would love for him to be my coach. i honestly think the ony reason y it is not in the league now is because teams arent desperate enough and coaches are stubborn. there is nothing like a coach who thinks his system is better than his players...in college u have brand new ppl every year and be lucky to have someone for 3 years...and in the league ur more then likely have someone for years specially franchise players...college coaches are more flexible...the spread will take the league by storm and make or break defensive stars...the spread is just more exciting and i believe takes more knowledge and talent to run. | |

| ive had bad experiences with coaches not listenin to the players and thinking that there ystem is better than the players and do not create new things to fit there personnel. so if i where a coach i would listen to my players but still lay down the law and adjust my scheme and add things to my scheme to make my team and players as productive and successful as possible and not be a stubborn coach. | |
