Most people are afraid to play under-center because of the 3DL glitch and nanos. Fortunately, these can be easily countered and most players who rely on the 3 DL Glitch to stop under center players can’t handle a player who counters their pressure. Most players have also forgotten how to stop the run this year.
How to Stop the Heat:
1.)
Block both backs. If you find you can stop the heat with the following steps than feel free to abandon this and send a back in the
flats. However, with most competent ballers you will be forced to block both backs.
2.)
Motion the HB or FB into the A-Gap between the Guard and the Center. The back or the Guard will chop-block the blitzer stopping him 9/10. So, unless the defense is blitzing more than six guys you are good, if they are someone should be wide open. (If some is bringing b-gap blitzes like the 46 Bear flip glitch just motion the back between the Guard and Tackle).
3.)
Run screens. Just like in the N.F.L. the screens will destroy the blitz if you can survive the necessary time to get off the pass.
You have to wait a while or the back will drop the ball. These works so well cause logically if the defense is blitzing defenders there are less men down screen meaning your back gets easy yards. Chow used this with for effect in the Madden Challenge.
4.)
Stick work. There is no denying it without stick running under center is next to impossible. Fortunately, the stick skills necessary to run under-center are easy to pick up. Just go into practice mode set the defense in engage 8 or use two controllers and some nano you know and see how long you can survive without passing and without dropping back more than 10 yards.
What to run under-center:
Therunning in this game is ridiculous using the FB Dive plus HB Toss/Sweep is unstoppable unless the defense fully commits to stopping the run. So, keep these two plays in your audibles. A screen is nice, but not necessary. I always have a play with at
two crossing routes and a streak. The crossing routes kill man, and the streak kills everything lol.
Here are some suggested schemes, use for each formation:
Strong I Jumbo (I audible down from 2 RB 3Wr or Trips Bunch) Flipped (this formation seems to work better flipped for some reason)
TE Drag (block both backs, streak farthest left WR, the crossing routes can easily be rocket catched and jet packed once they go far enough downfield.)
FBDive
HBToss
I Twin TE
FL Drag (block both backs, streak far right WR)
FBDive
HBToss
HBScreen
Strong I Twin TE
FB Dive
QB Option (just pitch it really early if you don’t have a mobile QB, the toss can’t be flipped in this formation)
TE Drag (put the farthest right WR on a drag and the WR next to him on a slant-out, streak the far left WR unless you are near the endzone, then his route can be used for the one-handed-catch)
Full House Weak (this works best if you get a HB in the FB spot)
FB Dive (motion the back to the right of the FB into the gap where the run is
going)
HB Sweep
HB Screen
PA WR Corner (block all the backs, streak the left WR, put the right wr on a drag, put the HB on slant towards the right)
I usually keep these in my audible and audible down frequently, I don’t run under-center all game.
