| I have a really hard time getting this play to work. Everytime I throw the ball the running back will start moving back towards the QB to catch the ball. This almost always brings him right into a defender and away from the blocking that is setup for the screen to work. Any suggestions or remedies for this? | |

| i had the same problems. what i do now....i slide protect my O-line either "Aggressive" or in the opposite direction of the screen (for qb protection). then....i roll back and slightly away from the screen....plant the qbs feet....throw to the HB. it's nasty once you get it down. try to make sure that you O-line engages the D-line and to give your blockers time to get out to block before you throw the ball to the HB. | |

| Hi, I've had some success with a HB Screen. To make it work I need a decent QB with some speed, and a great HB with lots of speed. I've made this work pretty well with Big Ben and W.Parker. I chose the HB Screen with a WR out left and right and a TE on the right side of the OL. Parker is alone in the backfield and runs left along with two blockers. the left WR runs straight ahead for 20-30 yrds before fading right. the right WR runs straight into the End Zone and the TE follows the right WR. Heres what I do; I take the snap, keeping my eye on the safeties. If they blitz, its a good idea to get rid of the ball. First I wait in the box with the QB just long enough for the OLine to pick ut the rush before I scramble at full speed to the right sideline, often 5-10 yrds towards my own endzone. then I sit and wait (if all goes as planned and the Oline does their job) and wait for the HB to start running upfield towards the middle. When I see him, he's normally all alone in the middle of the field because the WRs and TE is being followed, and the rest of the defense is either busy with the Oline on the left side or rushing towards my QB. throw a bullet to the HB and do wathever you need to gain 10-20 yrds at least, or even go for the TD. Sometimes the rushers gets past my OL pretty fast, or blitz and you wont have time to wait for the HB-run. What I do then i lob the ball towards the right WR. If you have a QB with a decent arm and a good WR, you could easily make a big play or even TD. At least you get the ball away and avoid the big sack. One more thing to look out for is defenders who did not follow your plan and are hanging out in the middle of the field (where you want your HB to go). In that case, do NOT throw the ball towards them. 9 out of 10 times it will be intercepted. So thats how I do it. Let me know if it works! | |

| The way I explained it, it's a risky play and you can get sacked for a big loss, but now that I've practiced this play and use it several times pr game, I'm starting to get the hang of it. The important thing to focus on is throwing the ball away if it doesn't work out. When the play works as it should, it's an easy gain of a lots of yrds. Just practice getting the ball away when the OL fails to give you enough time. I usually throw the ball to the right WR in the End Zone. normally doesn't work at all, but at least I don't get the sack..
Has anyone tried my HB Screen? Would be a lot of fun to hear from you!

| Some kid used it against me for the first time, the prick had it mastered. Bent a 96 yard run off it. Had to throw C2 on him all game cause he kept running it til, I manually locked it down with my LE.
Yes RUN, Newman caught his ass at the 1 yard line, lol.

| If the D is running man to man it usually doesn't work because the person covering the HB follows him and is waiting for him to catch the ball. So i like to run other short crossing routes with the screen because they will be open if the D is man to man | |

| that only happens to me every once in a while. shotgun's FL screen w/ hb sub at wr works nicely if you have a bruiser hb. i usually throw it once the pulling lineman are half way there so you can just scoot inside, turn it upfield and pound it against the secondary. | |

| when attempting the screen read ur defence jus iprob would do me if im in zone it would be a good idea to run the screen jus as iprob would do, slant ur HB to wea the screen is going slide ur o line the same way jus as iprob would do it , other ways are motioning ur hb to the opposite side of the field have ur oline shift left towards the hb cos eventually they will end up blocking for you once u pass to the hb thats running from left to right str8 to wea his blockers are at jus iprob would do. or mix it up wit ur fb running the screen and motion him to ur left and hot route him on a drag that would ultimately end up bein a fb screen becos u would hot route ur hb to block instead of running the screen , plays that i think can stop it are de contain most of the times they will swat the ball b4 it gets to hands of the RB/FB and yeh man coverage helps but sometimes the qb will throw str8 at the blockers instead of the reciever whose getting it , hope this helps | |

| i do what henz said except i do a drag route to the side the screen is going and slide protect to that side also, the slant would work too but i think if u use the drag you get behind your blockers more.
^^^Im pretty sure this is what EQU does too

| yea ketcham. call me selfish despite knowin that i was just here yesterday helpin you out on how to beat mcnair. Like I said, I give tips, but I don't give away my plays. I know everyone helps each other out. But at the end of the day you got to also remember this as well; WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PLAY EACH OTHER. Thats the whole point of playin madden, to compete. So why am I gonna give away a play that I know give other people problems, and would probably give me some as well too, when I KNOW im gonna have to face these same guys in tournaments and seasons. Thats not much sense. | |
