| lets say you are a junior in college considering potential offers to go professional early. Do you go for it? Or finish college and graduate before making that plunge?! Consider this: The average annual salary in the N.B.A. is $5.85 million. An estimated 60 percent of N.B.A. players are broke within five years of retiring, and 78 percent of NFL players are bankrupt or under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce within two years. - NY Times | |

| people go broke because they spend money foolishly
if u can handle the financial situation and buying sht then go for it
if u think u cant handle the responsibility to be financially stable take a financial class and graduate...im sure ull still be able to go pro
assuming that ur the one in this situation

| Go pro and still go to college in the off season. I agree with 2Ton on young athletes not being smart about their money. A lot of people hunt for these type of people and try to get them to invest in silly projects that don't work out. I wouldn't want to take the risk of going for another year in college and getting hurt. | |

| I wouldn't, I care about learning the stuff in school, I do not want to be a retard. And college is a great experience in someone's life, I am already regretting that I got two D's in high school and won't be going straight to a 4-year. | |

| if your superstar potential and everyones raging about you and your phones ringing off the hook with coaches calling i would do it. otherwise i would finish school up.
either way if it was me going without finishing school id be pretty smart about my money prolly, my only weakness when it comes to spending money is foods.

| Unless you are going to spend your money responsibly and not going to shooting yourself in the leg...go for it actually. If you are an idiot in school...you will probably get bankrupt either direction go... | |

| There has to be so many factors that go into this decision. Look at matt leinart. if he would have left early he would have made so much more money than he did. The difference between the first overall pick and the 10th pick is significant. Plus you have to consider if you are going to graduate in 4 years. At my school, athletes take the minumum units required to stay eligible. It takes at least 5 years to graduate. The difference between going pro after 3 year and going pro after 4 years isnt significant because either way you won't have a degree. | |
