help with defence for wr screen and sideline pass

ok guys i need a little help with trying to stop the wr screen and also the sideline pass(the one right on the sideline)where the wr runs a fade route and gets open 15-20 yds up the sideline.i run the jets d book and looking to shut down these plays,anything that is straight up and not a nano would be nice although a good blitz might be good.

Just contain the screen side DE and he will either bat it down or pick it off

A purple and deep blue zone combo should shut down the fade, as for the screen definitely contain the DE and maybe even man up one of the corners on the screen guy, though it works better if the corner is not lined up directly in front of the screen man. The screen blocking is designed to hit the guy directly in front of the receiver, so your manned up corner should have a free road to the screen guy.

You can't stop passes to the flats, flat zones are sht against them. Best way I've seen is to put your CBs on contain, and that sht is risky + you gotta play cover 2 or somethin like that which is very beatable.

Cover 2 sink works well, Ill take the fastest linebacker or my safty to cover it, It the y screen a lot the safty is risky though if you arnt nice.

Nickle Normal QB contain with the LB in spy. Put it in your audibles. Shift the line and LBers to the strong side. You will see no more screens after you bust it for a loss or pick 6 a couple of times.

Of course, there are screens outta 2 back sets, if the Nickle isn't working, use your base defense (3-4, 4-3) and find the play that has the outside LBers in contain with both DE's in yellow zones. Then there are 4 and 5 WR set screens, the Nickle play may suffice, but Quarter (< I think) Man 3deep with with DE's in contain. All of these plays need no hot routes, just shift your defense. User a LB and sit on those crossing routes that couple screens.

When you user the safety, look for the pulling guards. You should be able to see the screen coming. Also, if you suspect the screen, move your corner further outside if your playing man and it will mess up the blocking angle for the defense.
