this is my quarterback. there are many like him, but this one is mine. My quarterback is my bestfriend .... and i was glad to have him on my team.
its sad to see him go, but it has come to that time. in honor of my quarterback, i will be using him as my starter for the tournament today.

ah man! i feel your pain it was hard watching the eagles D without dawk, and its gonna be even harder watching them without westbrook! seems like the league its gettin all shifted around its gonna be interesting to see how thing play out in the draft and then the season, one part of me likes the change cuz you getta see some young new talent on your team but the other half of me is stuck in my old ways missin the good ol days with westbrook in the backfield and dawkins lurkin in the secondary. i think the panthers are headed in the right direction i see them bein really tough this upcomming season, but its deffinetly gona be hard losing jake cuz he's done so much for them, but all great careers at some point come to an end.

yeah man, i mean we all know its business. and of course, change is inevitable. but our dudes are our dudes and when theyre done theyre done. jake knows how bad he played and this was coming sooner or later.
its definitely weird seeing guys like westbrook and dhawk in other uniforms. like it was weird as hell seeing brett favre in purple. jake says he'll play again, but im not sure if a team will pick him up or not.

who knows man he could pull a kurt warner and totally rebirth his career if a team gives him a shot. its real tought cuz when the eagles played denver of course i was rootin for philly but at the same time i was rootin for dawk cuz he gave us so many years in philly its just a shame philly coudnt work something out. change can stink but i am excited to see wich direction team go in with all the change thats happening in the league.

I would take Jake as a backup to Romo, better'n Kitna. I do think he's got something left in the tank.
I don't think the Panthers will have a good year, sorry. I think they are building for 2011. They took the opportunity to get rid of him in a non cap year, so they could pay him all they owe him in a lump sum and write it off. This may be the first of many cuts we see just like that.

ya but look at what he's done for the organization in his time there, he's done alot! its always hard to see players that contribute so much to your team leave.

yeah it was, canes.
jake was a leader. he was a great leader. he was a better person than a football player, but i dont think ANYONE could be as good of a football player as jake is a person.
people love to instantly forget all the good a person does when they **** up. sure jake played horribly last year, and he'll let you know that. but he never gave up, he was always there for the team, even during the injury. he was passionate, strong willed, determined, hard working, dedicated... he is everything you want a leader to be.
he reminds me of brett favre without the mechanics. he's just a down ass dude who will do anything for his team, and he loves the sport like nothing else.

I hear ya man, I hated to see Antonio Pierce go after all he did for us during our Super Bowl run. But it is a business, it was his time to go.

His press conferance was one of the best I have ever heard.
If I can remember some highlights:
"I am not gonna make myself the victim here A lot of guys try to come off as the victim I did not play well"

the panthers are better off without him now he was very poor last two seasons. he might have been just as bad as russell. how he got to this point is beyond me as he was great at one time.

i have to say that this break up was sad because it comes after a terrible terrible year that jake had. he was due for 12 milli and that is alot to pay a qb who threw 18 picks whose name isnt jay cutler lol...jake took this team to 2 conference titles and 1 sb appearance but that bad year came at a bad time...the question is who is next to step up and take his spot...moore haha maybe i shouldnt laugh but they should consider some trade with philly to get vick...but jake will land on his feet... watch wat i tell u he will go to arizona specially since carolina still has to pay him his 12 mili.

Being from NC, and not a Panther fan, however I will say this, that everything that I have seen from him, he is a stand up guy, and the state of NC was in love with him. I hope the dude goes on to live a very fulfilling life

I feel bad for Jake, he was that franchise for a long long time. He lead them to their only super-bowl and the dam near almost won it. Jake will be missed in Carolina no doubt. I feel sorry fopr the guy cause he knows he fucked up and its sad to see him go but like everyone has said, thats buisness
im sure he will get a rebirth, i.e. the bills perhaps?
