| i wonder were he'll go. Buffalo could use him plus he would be a guaranteed starter so no issue on that, and im pretty sure the bills are gonna spend alot of cash this off-season so im gonna say the bills will be the busiest team this off-season | |

| Just like the topic states, this is the 2010 NFL Free Agency Thread. Post any news, links, specific team wants/needs that relates to free agency. -------------------------------------------------- Julius Peppers no longer wants to stay in Carolina, saying the team has ignored him since the Panthers ended their incredibly successful 8-8 season. The Eagles have been mentioned as a possible destination for Peppers. At 30 years of age, he knows the door is starting to close and this will be his last big payday. The Eagles are a team with a chance to win a title if they plug a couple of key holes — defensive end being one of them. The team also has been known to aggressively pursue players it truly wants. Matching Peppers and Trent Cole together on the same line should have Andy Reid and Sean McDermott salivating. | |

"The New Orleans Saints announced today the signings of four players to their active roster: CB Greg Fassitt, TE Tyler Lorenzen, DT Jermey Parnell and WR Matt Simon. The announcements were made by Saints’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.
Simon, a wide receiver out of Northern Illinois, also broke into the professional ranks with the Saints as a rookie free agent in 2009. He spent a portion of the season on the Saints’ practice squad earlier in the season."

| Slim Pickens for free agency this year. The Collective Bargaining Agreement will expire, meaning there will be no salary cap. Normally you would find about 200 free agents in any given year. However, this year many players that would normally be unrestricted free agents will be restricted free agents. They will have Tenders put on them. Also with no cap many players will be franchise tagged.
The free agency pool may drop from 200 to around 40. For many teams like the Eagles that have very few free agents, there teams will lose few players and in the case of the Cowboys and Vikings they should lose no players, except the ones they cut.
There will be a reverse to this situation, similar to what you saw with the Marlins baseball team in that some teams will take this opportunity to not pay any more money and instead try to increase profits.
Teams like The Ravens may run into some problems as they typically let their players shop around and then they pay them there value to stay. Whereas teams like the Eagles tend to sign players before their full value has been reached, in an effort to commit them long term.
It will be very interesting to see how it all shakes out.

| The Oakland Raiders and Sebastian Janikowski reached agreement Tuesday morning on the richest kicking contract in NFL history, according to league sources.
Janikowski will sign a four-year, $16 million contract that includes $9 million in guaranteed money, sources said. It also removes arguably the top kicker from the free-agent market. Other notable free agent kickers are expected to include Cincinnati's Shayne Graham and the New York Jets' Jay Feely.
In 10 seasons, all with the Raiders, Janikowski has scored 1,000 points, converting 78.4 percent of his field goal attempts (229 of 292) and 313 of 316 extra-point attempts. He scored 95 points in 2009.

| If the cards were to resign him, they would have to pay Karlos top 5 player money due to the fact that they tagged him twice and I don't see them doing that | |

He is the first kicker since Gogalak in 1966 (or somewhere around there) to be drafted in the first round (just a trivia fact)

It would actually be the higher of these two The average of the top 5 players or 20% added to last years contract Putting it at if I remember correctly 9.68 million plus 20% Or in his case the first tag was top 5, then add 20% for the second tag then add another 20% for this third tag. It gets very expensive. But you are right, the Cards won't tag him and from his interview on Sirius they have not discussed terms He also said he was interested in San Diego, Washington, New York and Miami. Dallas does not qualify to make him an offer under the provisional rules of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, specifically the "Final Eight chapter". Which if I remember correctly state that the top 8 teams may only make free agent offers to replace players they are losing. Dallas will not lose any players this offseason.

| Dallas still has not come to terms with Miles Austen,so although I think Dallas will not lose any players this offseason, I could be wrong.
Here is the scenario, Dallas does not offer Miles Austen the Roy Williams type money and Miles and Dallas do not come to terms. So Dallas puts a provisional tag on him. Then Miami comes along and offers Dallas a first and a third round pick, now Dallas is stuck they just lost him and there is not a WR as good as him available.
I don't think this will happen but it could. Especially given the fact that Parcells has a history with Miles and Parcells has a history with Monmouth College and New Jersey.
