| i was wondering does anyone take the time while learnin plays to tyr and identify coverages or is that to much thinking for someone to go through while playing...for me i have certain plays for certain coverages and/or routes that i do that are money for any or most coverages...i usually identify my a wr that i will watch and if on my dropback they are open or wont be open i go to my second read...i also have my outlet just in case of a blitz...that helps alot...or if i have a combo route with 2 wr's like an either or route i watch 1 side of the field...i was wondering if this is or how do other ppl READ there opponents defense or do ppl jus pick plays (money plays) and throw the ball regardless. | |

| I only go as far to like, outside run, inside run, short pass, and long pass, I never take the time to get specific | |

| if you motion your players, if they move right when u motion its man, if there is a split second hesitation its zone | |

| udont even have to do that... that gives away your passing the ball...and wastes time...check the safties to determine if its cover 2 or not or if they are in a corner blitz plays...if u have a good play called u have a route for each coverage...i pick a play where i can see those coverages..i jus pick the a wr at the presnap read either the slot or TE unless i run an outroute and then i eitha watch the lbs's or the safties and kno my wr's routes | |

| I try to read defenses, but this comes with time.We all know when Madden first came out,all we did was pick a play and throw it,regardless of what coverage we saw(LOL).I love football and even though video games have flaws,glitches,etc......I play the game the way it was meant to be played.Reading coverages also makes you a better player b/c think about it,what coverage would you think if you came out in a 3 man slot receiver set-up and your opponet comes out with what seems to be a 4-3 setup? Not too many player will put a l/b man-to-man on a speedy receiver and cover two will keep both corners in the flat,so I will assume zone/cover 3 or 4,but that is just me.Pretty soon, you find yourself reconizing coverages on Sundays on the big screen.KEEP BALLING PLAYAS!!!!! | |

| well i play wit the chargers and since antonio gates is like and double sized wide reciever i put him by himself on one side of the field and do a outside post pattern and if there isnt double coverage 95% of the time its a first down then once i have them worried about gates i have LT swing to gates' side and thats an easy first | |

| Yeah I can occasional tell what plays pro teams run(in real life), because I try to do it in madden alot.
I mean, not the exact play but the type of play. | |

| sometimes u can tell man lol....if u cant tell man from 2 steps u need some work...i usually pick a side and if u kno your plays and where pl will be and find that wr that will be open from the presnap thats wen u kno your elite. | |

| I don't think motion takes to long. 2 steps and reset the play or audible to your zone/man play. My problem is I just don't process the info fast enough | |

WELL SAID! I agree with you completely. If you don't learn to read the defense or at least read man or zone defense... it makes the game so much harder.

| i mean noone is u ju have to go with your gut and if its not there den dont throw it...its hard wen u are throwing a quick pass like a slant caus now the corner goes with the wr out of the zone looking like man then pops out in his cover 2 spot so patience is the key....u gotta know wat wr will be open or wat wr will make reading th coverage easier, for example run a 10 out route to a wr now this route lets us see cover 2 and cover 3 and is automatic as long as the qb throws the ball right in man. another example is running a TE streak watch the TE if and safeties they split cover 2 pray u have enough time for the TE to clear the lb's and throw a bullet if LB follows its man and lob it for a big game...jus pick a route where it is easy to see the coverage if its not there u should know wat routes are in that play and go to your second option. | |

| I do this sometimes. I only do it for certain formations which is kinda dumb, but it helps me out some. | |

| I can read the coverage but cover 2 and 4 look almost the same. The safeties don't even move sometimes. | |
