Pre play controls of D players

Hey new to the forum and Madden 2010 -
My question is isn't there a way to control defensive players pre snap to change the type of coverage they're in?
For example if I'm in Cover 2 how do I control the safeties to not make them drop back so far but play a purple or yellow zone?

first of all why would you put a safty in a purple zone in a cover 2? that would leave the middle of the field completely wide open.... im done im not gonna even respond again im srry....

it was just an example ( may have been bad but w/e). all you do is have that player selected and press A or X on playstation, then select whatever you want them to do from there, takes some time to familiarize theres a lot of commands. left joystick left is purple left joystick up is yellow right up is blue etc etc.

Thanks. What's the difference between the colors of the zones?

some cover deeper parts of the field blue being flats purple being the 3rd behind that then comes yellow and blue is the deepest part.

how do you blitz your outside lbs and how do you put you cbs in man coverage using your left and right sticks?

blitz outside LB: rb+ right joystick left or right for either linebacker, or just down for all LB blitz.

and besides audible if i put someone in man while in a zone i just manually do it have that player selected press a select the button that corresponds to the receiver you want to man up on and press left joystick left.
