How do you control defenders pre-and post snap?

I just got the Xbox 360 with Madden 2010. I think I'm doing something wrong as far as controlling defenders pre and post snap.

on my old xbox madden, no matter what defensive play i call, I can always be any defender and control him 100% percent, move him around, fake blitz, etc...

The problem i'm having now with the new one is pre-snap I can control a defender, move him around and do whatever, but once the ball is snapped...if the play I selected was for him to cover a wide out, than the cpu automatically takes over control and pulls him back into coverage even though i want to blitz with that guy!!!

I would think I should be able to control the defenders anyway I want...?? Help

Its a pain in the ass. I don't know if there is another way to do it - but I just put that player into the coverage/blitz that I intend to do - this way he goes where I would go anyways...

you just have to reblitz the gut that you are controlling so that way he doesnt try to go onto coverage from the snap

I think he meant guy instead of gut. Reblitz by hitting A and then down on the right stick for 360.

guys...its really simple, hold the strafe button....its l2 on ps3 idk what it is for 360 but its the left trigger....once the ball is snapped if your holding strafe he'll stand completley still...then when you wanna move him let go of strafe and move using the left stick and use the right trigger if u want ur guy to sprint
