| Uggg... I'm sick of this BS 2 money play BS that EA will never fix... happens every single year. This year its the RBs to the flats usually with deep posts over the top or drag routes. The flats are ALWAYS open if you know when to throw there... man, zone or both. Man defense stops when they flatten thier route and zones just stand there, easy ~7+ yards a pop. I got absolutely no problem stopping any single route, but when theres like 3 of em on a play that gets run at least 50% of the time, why cant the defense learn that 1 goddamn route? There needs to be a defensive audible to say "hey, this is the same play he just ran, jump the routes". I dont glitch, I dont nano, I play the game fair and I average probably 1 user pick and several manual defenses each game against these cheeseballs... but I can only be at 1 spot on the field any given play. I'm 57-19 playing quality opponents, but almost all of them run the same goddamn flat/drag routes all F'n game... how is this fun for anyone? I wish they could make the defense "learn" the damn routes better... Yeah, McFadden just got his 8th catch this game running the same route, Percy Harvin on the drag again... defenders still look dumbfounded. | |

| Thats the only problem I have with the game this year is the FLATS. Why is there cover 2 in the game if the flats are still open. | |

| reciever spotlight with the proper coverage shuts it down just make sure u have the right coverage but its true to life because flats and slants don't really get picked off in the league | |

| i let people hit the flats allllllllllllll gaaaaaaaaaaaame... but i dont let them get more than 2 yards on each pass. i guess its all about having speedy DEs and OLBs, or an elite MLB. | |

| I've played this guy yesterday that threw to the flats EVERY play. I tried man, I tried Cover 2, I tried everything but he kept completin them and my Corner was always outta position( In cover 2) It was so annoying. I finally ended up getting an int in OT to win the game. | |

Well, slants get picked off all the time... see it every week where the CB jumps in front of the WR. Drag routes are rarely run effectively in real life because the WRs get KILLED my the big boys in the box. What exactly is "proper coverage"... because I've tried literally every single man and zone scheme in the game and nothing "shuts it down". And reciever spotlight does absolutely nothing, even if it did, there often are at least 2 more "speed" drag or flat routes being run. Just so theres no confusion, I'm talking about the flat routes where the RB runs the the LOS outside the tackle box and cuts out towards the sideline. The other ones are easy enough to stop. - EggzOverEazy wrote:

Hmmm... you must be playing crappy opponents then. Once the RB makes his break, nobody follows him... man or zone defense. Its an easy 7+ yards each play before any broken tackles. Faster the RB, easier it is. The only zone that I found effectively "stops" these routes are hook zones by the CBs because they keep the play in front of them, but its still an easy 3-4 yards and good chance to break the tackle for more. What I try to do is pick a man defense with both safeties in zones and playmaker them into the flats... 90% of the time it still wont stop the play but they are at least there to make a tackle. After the opponent figures out what I'm doing they hit the easy routes over the top... I use the Bears and Vasher/Tillman are SLOW SLOW SLOW and are also terrible if you try bump n run, I dont trust those guys without safety help. Its just so F'n stupid you need to "double" routes which shouldnt even be that effective in the 1st place. Every year theres like 2-3 routes that the CPU just cant cover, why cant EA play this game for 20 min before they release it? Who gives a crap that theres new irrelevant animations.

| i agree that ea needs to fix that and i think the best way to fix it is better a.i. adaptation but a good man def to help with that is nickel 3-3-5 cover 2 man.the 2 outside linebackers are right over the d.e's n get to the flats quick. | |

Its not how fast they get there, its that they stand there once the RB breaks out... you can manually move your LB out there or have a much faster CB out there... still doesn't work. Its like they stand there waiting for the RB to cut back across the middle of the field, but the sad thing is that they dont cover that route either.
