Scheduling and Regulating trades

This is going to be 2 of the most important areas in keeping the league running smoothly and balanced. If you guys have any ideas different from what I post please post them.

Scheduling

Here is what I would recommend for scheduling of games. Its the way we did it in my past franchise league and it worked awesome. No need for aim, email or anything else...


Have a thread in the forums for each week(1-17). It can either be on this site or if the web site for the league allows it on there. Then under each week have all 16 games in a sub thread. Each matchup would have it own individual thread. So you would click on Week 1 then find your matchup and click on that. Its going to look something like the following:


WEEK 1-
eagles
giants

browns
bengals

chiefs
raiders
etc....

Week 2
Pats
Jets

Rams
49ers

Bears
Vikes
etc...

Then force everyone to go to their matchup and post the time their available to play until they can get something worked out with their opponent.

This will do a couple things.
1. Everything is transparent. It allows the commish to see who was trying to schedule the game and if for some reason the game couldnt be played. The commish can then allow the one who attempted to schedule the game to play the cpu.

2. Its just an easy way to schedule games. You don't have to know everyones email or aim. You just come to the site and schedule.

Like I said this worked really well for us and w/o it there is no way our league would have been as successful as it was.

Regulating Trades

2. EAs Letter Grade System

Ea has a system where each player you trade is gave a letter grade. The grade each player gets is based on Position,Age and OVR Rating. For draft picks if you go 0-16 your 1st RD Draft pick is rated higher then if you go 16-0... The following is the system we used and how it worked.


First each player is graded the following way(EA gives these letter grades):
A+,A,A-,B+,B,B-,C+,C,C-,D,F

Then we assigned a point value to each grade:
A+=5
A=4.5
A-=4
B+=3.5
B=3
B-=2.5
C+= 2
C=1.5
C-=1
D=.5
F=0

As long as the total points in the trade was within 1 the trade was allowed to happen...Let me show you an example using Madden 09.


-Trade between Bears and Bengals

Bears
T. Harris=A=4.5 pts
M.Forte=B+=3.5 pts
2nd Draft pick=D=.5
Total Points=8.5


Bengals
C.Johnson=B+=3.5
T.Housh=B+=3.5
K.Watson=C=1.5
Total Points=8.5

The points ended up equal in this trade. So this trade would have gone through. But again you can be within 1 point. So the Bengals could have put together a package that equalled anywhere form 7.5 - 9.5 points and still been able to trade for the Bears package that they were offering..


The commissioners can be as lenient or as stringent as they want with this. We used 1 point differential. But they can use .5, 1.5, 2 etc....Whatever they feel is best for the league...But this way atleast allows no one to get raped

i refuse to take all the credit for this...only thing i did was recruite and set this ****** up but the mad hatter behind the inter workings of the league to make it run really smoothe is jwhite so wen u see em thank him im jus posting his stuff in the general section caus this has been in the exclusive section for a lil over a week now fine tuning and tweaking the system. if everyone abides by these rules and regulations the league will run really smooth and be so much fun.

we are full right now and we have a waiting that is short...BUT if u show ur more active u could easily take someone spot that doesnt show how active they are so dont give up...also if u play SIM feel free to check out our sim section as i run that section and we have some events popping off wen madden 10 drops so u have options if this stays full and everyone active.

by the way, i went into the sims section, and all i see are PS3 apps....is there no application for xbox 360 users or is this a PS3 only site?...if so, ill post my app with my gamertag instead of PSN...good?

the sim section is PS3 only right now since we're mostly PS3 users on here bro. but you could find a sim game on 360 im sure

we have plenty of 360 gamers but since not many of our 360 guys are sim they havent started up with a sim section but if u do have a ps3 then of course u can be apart of the section.

wheres jwhite been. i havent seen him in a minute.

I dont want to ruin your plans, but i hope uve all read about the Online Franchise mode. There is no Salary Cap, Free Agency, or trading with CPU teams. How do you plan on working things like free agents?

Question, I just read about the trades and stuff, but i wanna know how does the player draft work in terms of time and if going to fill the whole roster.

the player draft will take some time...we are fillin a full 53 man roster

it will probably be a full day event. 53 rounds multiplied by 32 teams= approximatly 14 hours if everyone gets 30 seconds per pick.

I may have done the match wrong but i am pretty sure it is accurate. We may haveto do like a 30-40 round draft and have it simulate the rest for us
