Marion Barber Rule

I guess the nfl got scared of barber's mean stiff arms cus now they named the rule after him...no stiff arming in the face...apparently it was already a rule, but the officials never called it. now they are gonna.....

Roy Williams is a dirty player... hes not fast and he cant cover so he has to horse collar tackle.

Well hes fast enough to catch up to ppl to horsecollar them....i nver said he was good or nething

I don't care where people stiff arm, but Its a good rule though you can't facemask so why should offense players be able to punch people in the face.

This new rule will hurt all power back runners in the game, runners like M.Barber, L. Johnson, B.jacobs, J. lewis and will even hurt backs like L.T. and A. peterson who are consider HB's that can beat you w/ power and speed.

In the NFL all the backs stiff arm at some point and so do the WR's, w/ this new rule the scoring in the game will come down a lot this year, I hope they don't keep it and don't hamper the excitement that the league showed last year w, scoring. I would rather watch a high scoring game like 32-24 than a 10-3 yawner.

i just read about the rule. i think its fare because its like face masking on offense if you ask me. its not like they cant stiff arm at all.

where else could u stiff arm? there chest, not effective

well but sumone might get injured from that. jus think of sumone pushing your head back with great strength. dats gonna hurt seariously bad.

Tackling can hurt ppl badly...if ur hit hard enough u can get seriously hurt......it is a collision sport

LOL very true but thats wat the sport is based on not the stiff arm. well if they did allow stiff arm to the face then they should not allow u 2 grab it because i thiink i saw hester do it once on a punt return and marion barber.

the sport is aslos based on gettin td's, which means u hafta break or avoid tacklers, in this case stiff arm helps u get there.....baber doesnt GRAB the mask, in that case it should be a facemask

i didnt sya he does it all the time i jus knw i saw him doit once n didnt get called 4 it. but we'll c how everthing pans out with the rule.

roy williams needs to learn how to NOT TACKLE PPL BY THERE COLLAR.. but that lil video of barber getting away from all those PATRIOTS blew me away im suprised he got that from that pats

ya he has a strong stiff arm...in my opinion they shouldn't have taken it away. Its an offensive strategy that has been used forever...now they wanna take it away cus someone is using it so well. i don't agree wit that. But for the Roy Williams horse collar i agree 100%

this hasn't seemed to cause too much trouble for the teams

ya i thought the refs would be a lot more strict towards this rule

yo i agree...i can see if they runners are grabbing the face mask at all and twisting helmets or ripping them off like defenders do runners...the rule is unfair because wen a tackler come to tackle the ball carrier the first thing is arms then helmet not arms the chest or legs so the only place for a runner to defend himself is to stiff are the helmet without grabbing on the facemask...they are forcing runners to jus cover the ball up and keep there legs moving wen the stiff arm creats space...thats coo barber will get good enough ta jus choke a ma fucka under the helmets and over the shoulder pads lol how bout that...

What the hell man, that is one of everyones favorite aspects of the game...

And I can't think on anybody who was ever SEVERELY hurt by a stiff arm, that's stupid. Football is a hard hitting, contact sport, and they're making tons of dumb rules to take away the hard hitting part.

Can they still drop the shoulder?
