how do you open up the running game

well usually i open up the passing game by running first but i guess to develop the running game you can come out in shotgun and use sweeps and draws.
You could also try making the deep ball a threat if you're good at it causing the defense to respect you and drop more people in coverage or maybe even doubling a WR causing 1 less person to be in the box.
