ok guys im running the nyj defence playbook because its a good allrounder but i need a play that is good for covering the flats and screens.i use a couple of plays in the 4-6 but mostly to stop the run.the rest of the time i use 3-4 and sometimes 1-5-5 but havent came up with something that is consitent to stop the screens and flats
thanks guys

Run a contain for screens. And for the most part the contains guard the flats pretty good unless the qb draws them into rushing. You could also just man up whoever is going into the flats with a defender. If it's a running back, use a defensive end.
