Power vs. Speed

im sorry if this thread has been posted before.

I dont know about you, but i personally think that there is nothing better than running the ball on 3rd and short and saying you cant stop me. Cristian okoye, Jamall Lewis are in my opinion are the best power backs of all time.

Then there are the scat backs. Emmit,Barry, the best scat backs of all time. breaking ankles, jukeing and jiving, making defenses look super silly. Every time they got the ball amazing was sure to happen.

But i still say the power back is the best back to have.

Let the arguments commence, which one is better??????

all around backs plain n simple LT and walter peyton nough said.

Well I prefer to have both...I.e. fred taylor in his prime...micheal turner...LT.

As for madden 10 I think power will b more effective than speed this year...that's just how I feel.
The ability to break tackles will lead to bigger runs than just speed. We will know soon.

Yea i think power will have a greater result. Just me tho. you pound for 3-4 yards every carry it wears the defense down!! haha.

i would rather have a speed back. power backs are better on short yardage like you said but speed backs can do so much more. they are way more deadly on screen passes and catching the ball. they can get you quick scores

In madden scat backs r the best b/c madden is so weak ppl like westbrook n willie parker trucks ppl consistently cause madden cnt get tendecies right

in madden 10 a scat back can go down this year....... but in real life a All around or scat back can bring more to an offense.......... you can line guys up at wr if their hands are good enough and do screens and stuff i....where as a power back gives the D less to worry about... if they can get a front seven that can effective stop a power back then he is useless...for example... .jamal lewis was on the ravens... he was great vs alot of teams cept teams with D like the steelers and it forced boller to throw and boller sucked... lewis goes to the browns..... the ravens lock him down

Mr. Everything "ronnie brown" u can put him as reciever and he has power, decent speed and can throw decent for a RB

A shifty back is just as reliable if you're good, which I am.

I'd take an elusive fast guy all day.

Swag I dunno wat demo u been playong butbwilie parker trucks ppl all day I costantly get in the backfield n he trucks my linebackers consistently its sad really.

running north and south is better than east and west. if you need to get upfeild give it to a power back. he'll give you 3-5 yds a carry and break some dudes faces. i've seen plenty of runs by jamaal lewis take it up the middle break some faces and scamper for 6.

How about having a three headed monster like my boys Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice

those guys are rare. marion "the barbarion" barber, is the best rb in the league when he's not injured. any back that can make the patriots d look like a high school d is really good.

Your spelling is god awful.

Emmitt and Barry were not scat backs. A scat back is Darren Sproles, Reggie Bush or Napoleon Kaufman- a guy that you never run between the tackles. Barry was an all-purpose back and Emmitt was MORE POWER than speed.

The best Power backs of all time are Earl Campbell, Bronko Nagurski, and Mike Alstott. But Pure Power backs are a thing of the past. Brandon Jacobs is a rare breed, but he's still a lot faster than the old power backs. No, now a days, NFL backs are thoroughbreds- a dynamite mix of size, speed, and strength. Christian Okoye wouldn't even make a team in today's NFL.
