Every year the people at Nathan's Hot Dog take a trip to the famous Coney Island... and they bring the world's best eaters!
Eater X
Crazy Legs
Kobayashi
or reigning Champion, Joey Chestnut
Who will win?!? Last year the eaters ended in spectacular
'stuff-your-face" action as world-renowned top eater Kobayashi, was
tested for the first time by challenger and relatively newcower, Joey
Chestnut. The two hoarders managed to down an unprecedented 59 hot dogs
in the allotted 10 minutes. That forced the first tie-breaker round in
Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition history since 1980. Joey Chestnut
shocked the all-beef world when he beat Kobayashi to the 5th and final
sudden death hot dog, rightfully winning the title.
The show begins at 12:00 pm today, and I can't be exactly sure when the
competition begins. I know i've watched this just a few times, and it
is definitely a good time (even if just to watch in amazement). A few
years ago my roommates, some friends, and myself all tried to pace
ourselves along side the professionals...... yeahhhhhhhhh that wasn't
happening. I think my good friend managed to down like 4 kielbasas,
which is kind of impressive/disgusting, but not one else could touch
that.
Whoever is crowned champion today gets the IFOCE's (International
Federation of Competitive Eating) coveted "bejeweled" mustard-yellow
belt, which is said to beof "unknown age and value"
p.s. - I agree this is a waste of food, and a competition of gluttony... but spare me, this s*** is funny as hell to watch.
