| Have you ever seen somebody's name and thought, damn, that's some ghetto s***. Well, if you go to a dictionary in another language, flip the word backwards, then change around about 3 letters, and you have, pretty much every ghetto name made. Also, there may be some that are unknown like this one girl I know named Dayqwieta(prnounced Day-Quee-ta). If you take a name like Nahim(pronounced Na-eem) it comes from something Islamic, and I bet money, if you type it into google: Nahim, Islam(you need the comma) something will come up about the origin of the name. | |

| what actually makes a name "ghetto" is the fact that the parents tried to use a spin-off of something. for example: "Purina" = Purina Cat Chow "Lystarine" = Listerine Mouth Wash "Crayola" = Crayons and the list could go on and on! | |

| hahahaha YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE!!!
i dont think there are any "ghetto names"... i think you're talking about names with African origins. s*** like:
Omari The name Omari is a baby boy name. The name Omari comes from the African origin. In African The meaning of the name Omari is: God the highest (Swahili).
Tanesha The name Tanesha is a baby girl name. The name Tanesha comes from the African origin. In African The meaning of the name Tanesha is: Born on Monday.
my name (Eric) means Ever powerful and all knowing in Scandanavian.

| CJ CJ CJ...Man your boy CJ. I love 95% of the post you put up. But this one bro you are seriously trippin.. Why is it "ghetto" for a black person to name their son or daughter with an african or muslim name? Its ok for a white person to name there son or daughter with a Italian, Irish, Scandanavian, etc...Are you tryin to say that unless you have a Christian name that your name is ghetto? Now like my boy Milli said there are some ghetto names out there.... My X-girl worked in the HR Dept. and she interviewed a sister with the name "Shithead" pronounced "Shi- Theed" now thats ghetto... I guess because I live in the midwest in country a$$ KC and the alot of the white folk feel if your name isn't Tom, Mary, or Charles there is something wrong with you. So I have strong feelings about this issue... But man keep posting your sh*t like I said 95% of the stuff you post i love. | |

| Only christian name I can think of is well, Christian.(the boy's name, ya know.)
But most of them are african, except sometimes they just toss random syllables together(how I got Fudopi).
But honestly, there's a girl at my school named "Shaqueekweek" (Shu-kweek-kweek) and that's fuckin hilarious, I don't even think that's african I think it's like, on some pseudo duck s***.
And I'm in a hotel room in Manhattan by the way, I'm just waitin till my people is ready to go back out again, they're nappin...

| yeah and usually during Confirmation (christian right of passage) you are given a Christain name, i forget what mine is... ive since re-evaluated my religious believes. but i know the most common are michael and joe.
but yeah, im with jwhite on this one... because ive noticed this my whole life. ever since i learned from names come from ive always been dumbfounded by people who read an african name and say "whats that" or "thats ghetto" because i know those people have no idea what the name means or why the person is named that... they are often family names too.
its like when someone is talking stereotypes and they say something like "yeah his name is JAMAL or something like that!!"... they say it like theres something wrong with the name.

| How the hell is Jamal ghetto to you 2? If you guys think thats a ghetto name, then you need to hang around more black people. IDC if all you hang around is black ppl, but if you think Jamal is ghetto, maybe you should hang around more white ppl. | |

| beleive it or not...not all of us as black people DON'T KNOW the origin of the names that we give to our children. most of us are actually highly intelligent enough to look up the meaning of names before naming our kids....so...don't believe the stereotypes and comedical movies of the black community. most of it just comes from being creative and different than other nationalities. | |

| I ain't say Jamal was a ghetto name they did.
I wonder what kinda name they say Elroy is...
Wait the jetsons didn't make that up right, it is actually a name?
And I always thought it was kind of funny though how some black people just take an average name and add a random syallble to it... they can't just take like Marcus, it's gotta be like Jamarcus.
