| CalvinandHobbes Guide to Quick Passing
What is it? This is the easiest and most effective offense in madden. The idea is to pass right after the snap. What will happen is that the CB and WR will both jump for the ball, but he CB will jump just a second later because he has to take a step. This means that the WR will catch the ball and come down with it while the CB is in the air. This is an obvious problem for the CB; the WR will often then have 10 yards a safety and then the end zone. This is because the throw and catch happens to fast for the LBs to get out to the sidelines, and very few lbs can catch up to a WR
Who does it?
This can be done by any QB WR set, but it obviously is easier with taller WRs and more accurate QBs. When doing this the only thing that your WR needs is awareness (or catching) and jumps. Just like a deep lob attack you want to look for the mismatches. Here height and jump is the main factor, so you want your tallest/jumpiest (lol that is defiantly not a word) lined up vs. their smallest CB. One important thing here is that a cb who is 5foot 8 but has 96 jump can beat a 6’5 WR who has 88 jump. Think of it like a Ferrari and a truck drag racing, only the race is 200 yards long and the truck gets to start with his back wheels on the starting line.
How to do it:
Just high pass in (or for some routes out). If you do this on the wrong route you will throw a pick and there will be no one to stop the DB for going for 6.
Also don’t do it when the DB lines up inside of the WR, he will be inside the WR for the pass and therefore get he ball first. Instead when you see this playmaker the WR to a fade and count to 1 or 2 and high pass in, in a man D the WR should be open.
You can also quick lob, this may sound like an oxymoron, but it really isn’t. Here you are passing of a compressed set. You will use the angle fade or the route that looks like a 20-30 degree angle fade. You will then high pass lob in. This takes skill. You can also high pass lob out for a fast WR. If the DBs scoot in this is a burner.
When to Do it:
Pass when the DBs are lined up 2-3 yards over the WR. Not when they are inside or bumping. The bump doesn’t affect the quick lobs though
What Routes:
The best route (for the quick pass) is the long hitch that starts out like a fade. The reason this works well is because the WR is suppose to cut out then up.[/size]
For quick passes you are looking for routes where the WR cuts at the very beginning. You will then pass up and the direction of the cut
The best quick lob route is the 20-30 degree angle fade. Just lob up and out. Actually my favorite route in the game is the blue angle fade in TB PB. It is an unbumpable lob.

| sry about the size...the code was being a B****
Here are the best quick passes I found over the course of last year.
Any HB Angle Route (see HB Middle) motion the Back into an open spot of the field (say the right in I form Twin WR) and hike the ball while he is in motion and throw a high bullet. THis requires manual attention.
Then This play in Seattle Weak I Twin WR: TE Option or O.K. Slants Audible to your Far Tight Twins play Form Shift Left to Tight Doubles Call a PA Form Shift Right to your Far Tight Twins play Form Shift Left to Tight Doubles Motion the Receiver in the TE spot in (smart the Receiver in the WR#1 spot if asked for), then motion the TE back out Then smart route HB#2 Place the Receiver in the WR#1 Spot on a Smart Routed Curl Place the Vision Cone in the middle of the field
HB#2 is on an unbumpable route WR#1 is on a regular quick Pass
If they bump put the cone on HB#2 and Lob, if they don’t put the cone on WR#1 and bullet

| i like the tips...but some of them have major variables that i dont think some of yall are looking at. for example...someone with good "stick skills". what i mean by this is...quick passing only works a few times against someone with good stick skills and that can audible their defense to stop it. I have excellent "stick skills".
stick skills- the ability to audible in and out of defenses, make pre play reads, and the ability to break on the ball....regardless of DB skill set.
I pride myself on being able to lock the passing game down regardless of who i use...because of the "stick skills" i have. Because i love to user control my safeties and DB's, it makes it very hard for people to run slants and quick outs. someone who uses a quick pass offense has to be able to adjust to that....and most people dont know how to adjust without getting uncomfortable...

I have been on the site for a while, but, i am not an elite player. Would it be possible for someone like the gentleman above who has the good stick skills to do a post on how to improve stick skills, what to look for when controlling the safety or linebacker. All the posts i have seen have been very helpful for my Defense, but i would like to improve my user control. Also, if anyone has the time to scrimmage sometime and maybe give me some tips on my game or the lack of at times it would be greatly appreciated. My EA is family1stkid

I don't own madden 08 on the ps2 or xbox...so I don't know what you are talking about. I wrote this last year when people were still (for the most part) learning about quick passing. - Quote :

I agree, but I like to try to have one route I can quick pass to keep people sleeping. With a good route I can usually draw the player you are controlling to one area of the field to open up the rest of the field. I don't really rely on quick passing, it is just nice to have in your back pocket.
