fake punt run

is this play cheap to run or no.... against punt block its an easy 15-30 yard run if you sub in a fast HB, and against punt return middle its like 5 plus yards if you run it correctly

no its not cheap, just dont overuse it

yeah. i just played a guy who used the Chargers and after i made an awesome TFL on 3rd he ran it with i guess LT on 4th down and then did it in the hurry up. he got a TD after the 3rd time, he broke some good tackles... i shouldve called timeout.

always call a timeout if he no huddles for 4th down... that means its his money play he'll use

yea when i call time outs when someone no huddles on 4th down they usually punt cuz they know my D will be ready for their pass plays that have been workin that game. if u stop them when they go for it they will think twice before they do it again.

Ya I have been playing kids that do this to and its really annoying. So when I see that they are going to punt i just do engage eight and take my cornerback back to receive the punt of he doesnt run.

i find doing the fake punt run can be very effective. you really need to have a fast FB though

i just do it on like 4th and 2 and i know i've had trouble getting little yardage when needed.

eggz stopped it when i used it once against him the other day.

i took it 2 the house with a fake punt run... but i still neeed 2 build the running game stick bc i dont think im up 2 par like the way i was for ps2

use it once or twice but yeah dont over use it

this one dude used it on me and got a first down the first time but when i came out in a overload blitz the second time to the same side he was running it, he called a timeout lol

Everytime I punt I think about the last time I punted but it's pretty hard to remember :]

Last year it was OK because if you called engage 8 it was an easy stop. This year I feel that it is pretty cheap because even when you know it's coming there seems to be no sure way to stop it. I would like to see it become illegal here, but nobody else seems to care so I guess I can live with it.

kind of because the offense resets asap, just audible to blitz from quarter and show blitz

its effective but u have to make the switch fast or else ur opp will know something else might happen other than the punt....

against punt return try to look for a hole straight ahead....but against punt block run to the sideline and you score almost every time if you can juke the punt returner

How do you stop this? Anybody know a sure fire way? Especially because you always know when it's coming.

if its like 4th and 5 or more, its really tough to get it in fake punt run against punt return and also try bringing one of the lineman from the other side to the right side.

its its 4th and less than 5 try 4-3 normal thunder smoke. Pinch lineman and blitz them to the right, and then shift linebackers to the right. Usually you get the RB in the backfield with this one.

if you use a 3-4 try 3-4 normal SS blitz. Shift lineman to the right and blitz them to the right, and then show blitz

I only really run this when its like 4th and 3 and even then i rather go for it normally because if the guy knows what your doing and just dosent show it you can get stopped cold... so im not a huge fan of this..

just call out a regular play to stop it, and whatever the side the RB is thats the side he will run to.(unless,of course, he cuts back)

right when he calls the play take your safety and put him deep to return the punt(in case he actually punts it)

^^^^^that doesnt always work. maybe you get lucky once in ahwile but usually when you just "call out a regular play" they will pick up 5-10+ yards.

Not that effective because if you wait for your opponent to pick a play you will see his formation is 1 RB 1 WR and 0 TE, or just 1,1,0

But on a regular punt it is 0,1,0

So it's easy to tell when its coming.
