Hey all! First time poster, but long time stalker of the forums. You
guys have some great posts on here so I thought I'd see if you had
anything to say about this.
As you all know, it's easy to have a winning record when you use Bama,
OU, UF, etc... but it is much more difficult to use middle of the road
teams to beat the big dogs. I think, however, the vchallenge is so
great that when you do get that win over an elite school it makes it
that much more rewarding.
Since most of the middle of the road schools have very limited
resources when it comes to elite players, strategy and play calling
become that much more important. For instance, Michigan State's
linebackers can't usually hang with someone adept at scrambling Terelle
Pryor or Juice Williams.
Generally I will use a 4-2-5 to contain the run and let the other guy
beat me through the air. I seem to have a moderate amount of success
doing this with Mich St., beating users online that use Bama, OU, and
such.
As far as offense goes, the mediocre schools tend to also have mediocre
blocking so I'll usually audible a TE to the side that he is user
controlling his DE or OLB and, use about a 80/20 pass to run ratio
mixing up Ace and Shotgun sets.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling. The point of this thread was to hear what
strategies you guys like to use when playing with a severe underdog.
Thanks in advance for your posts!
