| I have that same problem.i discovered that if you pay close attention to the rumble on your remote (it shakes when you are being rushed) and know where your receivers are going you will be quite succesful. if you can help it, use your fullback with pecision. you can maneuver around him in the backfield (Mat Hedgecock on the giants is great at this.) or do a drag or out-slant rout with him for a quick dumpout. if you do that, then you can blow out alot of blitzes, and nothing is better than wathching a DB get beat when he is the last person down-field. | |

| Look at the rush first, to identify how many people are coming to know how much time you might/should have. Always have a hot target just in case the blitz is more heavy than you thought. I always look at the rush when the ball is snapped so see how many are coming. If i only see 4 i know i will have more time than usual. Watch out for delay blitzes as well. But if you have routes over the middle, if you look at those routes, you will look the pass rush too. So it's a win/win. | |

| I key the coverage first, what are the backers and DBs doing...are they blitzn are they dropping into coverage. If they are blitzing hit the hot receive or throw into the blitz...of course you have to know your receives routes... if you have time in the pocket just make your natural reads and take what he D gives you. | |

| if the defence's linebackers blitz that leaves the middle of the feild WIDE open. always have at least one wr going through the middle in case of a blitz | |

| I had a lot of trouble passing when I first got the game as well. Here's the system I've developed: 1. Presnap, note the personnel on the defense and how they line up. Use presnap motion if you want to see if the defense is in man or zone. Look for mismatches - for example, if you're in a 3WR set, and the defense is in 3-4, a linebacker is going to come out to cover your slot receiver (if he doesn't, he's likely blitzing). I keep my 2nd fastest receiver in the slot to take advantage of stuff like this. 2. Immediately as the ball is snapped, count the rushers and note where they're coming from. Be prepared to flow in the opposite direction if you need to wait for a route to develop. 3. On any given play, the defense will likely have the middle of the field covered (Cover 1/3, aka MOFC), or open (Cover 2/4, aka MOFO). This is immensely useful in determining which routes are viable, and you can read this right after the snap. Routes that work well against MOFC: out, four verticals, corner/fade, hook (the sidelines and slot seams, basically). Routes that work well against MOFO: post, in, slants (the middle of the field, duh). 4. Know where your checkdown is. During the play, I tend to keep one eye on my primary target, and one on my checkdown receiver (usually a RB, FB, or TE). If I feel pressure I'm hitting one of those two buttons.
I think the most common mistake people make in passing is picking a receiver before the play and focusing all their attention on that guy, no matter what. This = sack or interception.

| Unless they're nano-ing up the middle, I find that stepping up in the pocket helps protect my qb from the outside rush. Kind of a simple thing, but earlier on I found myself dropping back 15 yds and getting sacked by the DE's. I wondered "why are my tackles getting beat so frequently?" It's because I dropped back too deep and the DE didn't have to go through the tackle but around, and most DE's are faster than a LT or RT. So practice stepping up in the pocket, by motioning up on the LS. It's kinda scary at first because you think the DT's are gonna get to you, but your interior lineman are good at giving you time and it forces the outisde rush whether from the DE or OLB to have to run wider and then back into the middle, and by the time they turn toward the qb, one of your free linemen will pick him up. | |

| Also, I forgot to mention....practice your passing plays in practice mode against zone and man to get a feel for timing of the routes. It helps to know pre-snap where you're gonna look, instead of trying to react to the defense once the ball is snapped. | |

| just learn some plays and were your revievers will be. see who the other player is usering then . at the snap of the ball read the deffense. u can see if there is a blitz and what coverage. i also force my opponet into diffrent coverages then exploit them on that. if u throw the ball quickly you dont have to worry about the sack. and there is no perfect deffense if you know were to postion the ball and can manuver your reciever to the ball | |

| really man is just depends on what your running and their D im not the best for advise but its pretty easy to find them open. if your plays arent working then you need to change to a different formation that will get you pass their D. try and mix it up to make it where he (or she) ,whoever lol has to guess on what your about to do...besides half the people dont even know how to audible so try doing that | |

| These all are excellent posts. Read the blitz first right after the snap. No blitz no problem. you will get used to your timing when you notice certain defenses. alot of guys play the same defense the entire time with a few mixes of blitz and zone in the same formation. just remember all the posts about having a dump off guy and bringing at least one reciever over the middle. i usually have my tight end or rb as my quick dump off. if you notice all of them going back in zone and it seems like everyones covered take off with the quarterback up the middle for an easy 4-10 yards. i did all the wrong things when i first started. drop back 15 yards, scramble when i didnt need to, threw picks or took sacks as i stared down one reciever. it all comes together once you got your timing, plays, and defense recognition down. | |

that is one of the biggest things, AUDIBLES. use the plays that you are most familiar with and burn them with a quick offensive adjustment. also, practice your hot routes.

| Get your run game going first if you run well and get about 4 to 5 yards a rush you can use play action and burn them when the safties bite and play run | |
