Madden 09 Wii Online Kicking Glitch

I've played 3 games so far online. In two of my games, my opponent quit during the game. After they quit, I cannot kick good. No matter how straight I have my kick, it automatically ends up as a poor kick slicling to the left out of bounds. I can't kickoff or punt now when someone quits. Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix it?
