I am noticing that the number of rushing attempts for the first-string
halfbacks are way too high with the computer-controlled teams. In the
first year of my Raiders franchise, there are about 15 running backs
with over 400 carries apiece (and the top few are near 500!). As a
result, the top second-string players are barely playing; for example,
Brandon Jacobs rushed over 400 times for the Giants while Ahmad
Bradshaw saw only about a dozen carries.

For some perspective, only five players in the league in 2008 had over
300 carries, let alone 400. Michael Turner led the league with 376, but
in the first year of my franchise that figure would have placed him
around 20th overall. In 2007, Clinton Portis paced all players with a
scant 325 carries.

Only five players in the history of the NFL have rushed for more that
400 carries in a single season - Larry Johnson (416 in 2006), Jamal
Anderson (410 in 1998), James Wilder (407 in 1984), Eric Dickerson (404
in 1986), and Eddie George (403 in 2000). Obviously, to have 15-plus
players do this in one season is crazy.

Are there any adjustments I can make that will help make this more realistic?

how long are your games? this is the only thing i can think of. i'm not sure if there is even an option for the simulated length of a game, i actually doubt there is. besides that, i don't know. maybe adjusting the sliders could help?

Well, the CPU controlled teams don't sub their guys as much as real NFL teams do. As you said, Jacobs had 400 carries while Bradshaw had barely a dozen. In the real life, Jacobs would get around 3000 carries and Bradshaw, 100.

As a result, the yards per season is also way higher than normal. One year, in my franchise, my DeAngelo Williams had 1999 yards (I'm a run heavy type in franchise mode), and he finished second! Micheal Turner had 2051 yards! The year after, he slowed down to 1900's yards, but it's still way too high.

At least, it's better than in Madden 08. I sometimes play with it on my GC and, after finishing a Superstar season, LT had 2400 rushing yards on about 450 attempts...

There seems to always be a problem with the computer ai in Madden. I wish they would make sure there isnt any bugs in the game. Last year it was superstar mode and now their are bugs in the franchise again.
