| in a 3-4 scheme you need a strong nose, even more so than usual, to anchor the middle and allow Lb's to run sideline to sideline. Also vital is having a OLB who can play a drop DE either from the 2 pt or w/ hand on the ground (think James Harrison). 3/4, though, is a very flexible defense. Bring the OLB's up and you now got a 5-2 with a 2 deep man zone (bc most teams run multi wr's these days). Or flex the OLB onto the #2 rcvr (#2 as in the numbering system used to determine responsibilities, you count inside to out) slot, TED or whoever and have him disrupt the timing then drop off in a soft zone, delay a blitz....oh I can go on all day but u get the picture.
So no, don't play 3/4 w the bengals...

But depending on what you're lacking up front, sub accordingly into outside DT pos. I'd go for the biggest and best run stoppers you have, that way you can do all sorts of wild s*** with the Lb's while the moose tie up the line and let em run free

| You can run 3-4 D you just have to check your personel...IF you want your DE to have at least 80 speed if not upper 70s the least...your two outside backers have to be fast to have a devastating 34D...you want both your MIKES to be strong...they can be a little slower like 75 to 80 because they are solid in the middle...the nose tackle thing about being dominant is true in real life not so much in the game. you just want a solid guy thats not going to get pushed around...overall 75+ everyone else is basically the same with your corners and safeties...34 is so nice because you can bring pressure from literally anywhere...corners middle....anywhere... | |

| matter of fact if i have a fast DE i will move him to OLB so he can come off the ball fast. like if he has mid 80 speed...like the colts DE's or even with my man Mario...and put a solid backup at the end spot because you just need the end to seal that side of the field anyway. | |
