How do you hot a player to the purple and other color zones?

I keep hearing players talk about hot-routing defensive players to purple zones and other color zones. How does one do this? Thanx.

You select that player on defensive, then press A (X on PS3) then a direction on the left stick or right stick.

Yellow Zone - Left Stick Up
Light Blue Flats Zone - Right Stick Right
Purple Zone - Left Stick Right
Dark Blue Deep Zone - Right Stick Up

Best thing I would recommend is get two controllers and go in practice its not just purple

What do the colors mean???

the colors just identify what kind of zone it is.
yellow=hook zone. usually for the middle of the field. LBs on cover 2, for example
purple=deep/mid zone. kind of a hybrid between the two. takes away routes that regular cover 2 usually leaves open. can be found in cover 2 in a 3-4 defense
light blue=flats. LBs in cover 3, CBs in cover 3
dark blue=deep zones. safeties in cover 2, CBs & safety in cover 3. everyone in prevent
