It depends on what you think of what Hip Hop is or what Rap is. To me Rap is "harder" than Hip Hop. They rhyme about different things (Hustle and the hood). To me Hip Hop are the club jams. I don't think that Lupe or Kanye rap but they rhyme better than most rappers.
I guess another person you could add to the list is Jeezy. Although lately all he talks about is going on diets and things that are on a grocery list.

Lil Wayne is over rated. He wasn't even the best rapper in his crew. Juve and BG was killing him... But he looks real good right now because rap sucks. The only talented rappers are the ones that dropped before 03. Everyone that has come out since then has put out one hit single and disappeared. Unfortunatelty rap is dying.

Rap was actually more violent in 89 than it is today but it also was more balanced. You had KRS-1, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane etc... You didn't have to worry about turning on the radio and listening to the ying yang twins "skeeting" on someone or someone rapping about "superman" some hoe. . Why do you think high school preganancy has risen so much. I applaude Gator for attempting to keep his son away from it.

Like I said before rap is slowly dying. Everyone is just saying the same sh*t over and over with a different beat. There is no variance in it whatsoever. When rap was at its pinnacle in the mid 90's you had east coast, west coast and down south putting out bangers. Some how the illiterate south has taken over and with that you get weak lyrics and no creativity. When the greatest music video program of all time goes off the air(Rap City) you know your in trouble.
