PostSubject: freaking Nanos!!   freaking Nanos!! Empty2010-03-03, 21:42

Ok lots of people are using the 1-5-5 now i can see..sometimes its very hard to see where the pressure is going to come from. plus at times its hard to see if they are in man or zone..i cant run single back effectively because the pressure is getting there way to quick.. so question is what are some or the better plays to run against this formation?? its hard to slidw protect cause i cant see where pressure will come from.. I use the west coast playbook..thanks in advance for the advice..

I slide protect on every play. If you doon't know where pressure is coming from then slide protec to the side you want to roll out a little bit to to buy some extra time. If some1 is zone blitzing, then a hb screen or wr screen is an easy huge gain. If they are man blitzing hitting a hb on a slant or on the flats will result in a big gain. Sometimes I aubible the TE and hb to block just to watch how their blitz is coming through so i can pick it apart my next play.

Also you have to have this mentality: Don't be afraid of the blitz, exploit the blitz and make them scared to blitz.

In single back set, audible the back on a drag route, then motion him to the other side. The drag now becomes a quick hitting flat route. Great against nanos.

The shotgun will give u extra time. but if you insist on the singleback formation try the double TE sets and have them block and run two or three man routes. Also if ur guessing man or zone come out in a twin wr set. if two corners are on the same side as the wr's its man. If only one corner is there its zone. I run a twin set the first play of the game to see what is my opponents base defense.

Go to a 2 back shotgun set (dual HB package) or a tight set. Hit the flats or run drags and slants over the middle.

No normally on a drag route the route drags in front of the QB and over the middle. But if you put a running back on a drag route it originally is over the middle, but here's the trick. When you motion the running back from one side to the other after you audible the drag, it sets up a quick flat route behind the line. It is the only way I know to set up this route and the only coverage I know against it is man cover. I have also seen a DE contain knock this pass down, but I don't think many people DE contain on nano.

Actually I should have said audible the drag route then motion RB to other side (in my previous post). My mistake. Its fixxed now.
