Urban Meyer to Step Down as Head Coach of Florida

after the SEC Championship game, Urban was checked into the hospital for chest pain. I would think this is somehow related to that. the problem seems very serious, especially since Urban says he needs to focus on his "faith and family". when someone says they are focusing on their faith, it seems they are going to have quite a battle ahead of them. I can only hope for the best and put Urban in my prayers. I hate Florida as much as anyone, but seeing a 45-year old man who is one of the best coaches in the game be forced to step down due to health concerns is just terrible.

Yeah this is awful. I grew up a Gator fan and it was awesome just to have the active coach with the highest winning percentage. Thanks for the 5 years you gave to the Gator Nation Urban. You'll be missed greatly.

they say that his situation is not life-threatening, so that's good. i also heard that he will return to florida in a non-coaching role. i'm thinking maybe a recruiter. idk, i'm just happy he will be okay in the end.

i heard that it was a stress-related heart defect. over the past four years, urban was supposedly really stressed with recruiting 24/7, and he ignored persistent chest pain. when it became too much to bear, he went to the doctor and they saw that a muscle in his heart was defective. it seems like a huge deal, but i heard that the doctors told urban just to take a break from coaching and relax, and he should be fine. i heard that it could be a tumor too, but i'm pretty sure someone just made that up.

im sure he'll be back before the season way too much stress on him at the moment plus he's had heart issues since he was at Utah so no big surprise here
