Steelers offense Empty
PostSubject: Steelers offense   Steelers offense Empty2010-05-14, 18:57

1) I-Form – Tight – FB Dive
This is a money play out of the I formation, just run it up the hole for
an easy 3-4 yard pick up.

2) I-Form – Tight – Mesh (Man coverage)
Throw to the (B, Circle) receiver after he crosses with the (X,Square)
with a precision lead pass

3) I-Form – Close Twins – Bench
This is a great play to overload on the left side. I prefer to hot route
the RB to block to the left, and scramble with my QB towards the left
sideline.
Either the (X,Square) receiver or the (B,Circle) receiver should be
open after their cut. Make sure to add precision up and lead for the
(B,Circle) or simply lead for the (X ,Square) receiver.

4) I Form – Close Twins – PA TE Corner
Throw this play in your mix along with the FB Fake HB Toss play to
throw off the defense.
You have a lot of good options on this one, the X receiver is usually
open up the middle for a precision up 3-4 yard gain, and of course your
main
target should be the TE with a precision up and lead bullet pass
towards the sideline.

5) Gun – Empty Steeler - WR Post Corner
Throw to the (LB,L1) receiver as he crosses the middle with a
precision up pass.
You're back up option is to throw to the (X,Square) receiver and
rocket catch with him over the defender's back.
The X receiver should be in isolation with the defender so this is a
great play if you can figure out the best method to make the catch.

6) Gun – Empty Steeler – Steelers Shake
This is a cool new route added to Madden 10. Simply wait for the
(A,X) receiver to shake his man, and then make the easy pass.
If the receiver is covered (or running into a linebacker in zone near
the middle) make sure not to force the throw and instead try to hit
either receiver on the curl.

7) Gun – Empty Steeler – Stutter Hook
I like to hot route right on the d-pad the (A,X) receiver as a pre play
setup. This creates some confusion on the right side and may allow
your target, the (Y,Triangle) receiver to burn his man up the field
allowing for a deep pass.

8) Gun - Empty Steeler – WR Screens
This is a solid money play screen play. I usually throw to the
(B,Circle)
receiver, and cut towards the sideline away from traffic.
Make sure to read the screen part in the Offensive Strategy section for
some tips.

9) Singleback – Ace Pair Twins – Inside Cross
You're primary target should be the (B,Circle) receiver as he crosses
the
middle with a precision up pass.
You're back up is the (A,X) receiver with a lead pass.
In some cases, if the safety does not pick up your (X,Square) receiver,
and he is leading his man, don't be afraid to give him a lead bullet
pass
for a huge gain.

10) Singleback – Ace Pair twins – PA CTR Waggle (Man Coverage)
Hot route left on the d-pad the (Y,Triangle) receiver. Hike the ball,
scramble left (if HB makes the block) and give the Y receiver a lead
pass.

11) Singleback – Ace Pair Twins – Steelers Screen
This is a great HB screen play, which I have found very effective.
Simply
make the pass if the HB is open and take off towards any open space.

12) Singleback – Bunch – Stick
I prefer to use this play for an easy 4-5 yard pick up. Simply hit your
(A,X)
receiver after he completes his curl.
You're other option is to give a precision up pass to the (B,Circle)
receiver if you feel he has the upper hand on his man. If there is a
safety
nearby, don't even try as this usually leads to an ineterception.

13) Singleback – Bunch – Corner Strike (Man pressed coverage)
The (A,X) receiver and the (Y,Triangle) receiver's crossing patterns
should create a disruption with the defense. I prefer to scramble to the
right and hit the Y receiver with a lead pass, but make sure to consider
the (B,Circle) receiver if his man is behind him.

14) Singleback- Bunch – Counter Weak
This is a great run play if you notice the defense is overloading on the
trips side. If you us this play in along with the previous passing ones,
you
can surprise the defense with a nice 8-10 yard run.

15) Singleback – Bunch – PA Boot Over
Hot route right on the d-pad the (Y,Triangle) receiver. If the defense
is in
man, he should be wide open towards the sideline.
If not, the (A,X) receiver should be open up the middle for a precision
up
pass.

16) Singleback – Bunch – Deep post
If you've noticed, I have almost all the above plays targeting the
receivers on the right. You can set this play up by running the above
plays first and then surprising the defense with this one. This can be
an
easy 20-25 yard pick up by making the completion to the (X,Square)
receiver up the middle (Precision up and lead)

17) Gun – Empty Steeler – WR Comebacks (Zone coverage)
This might be my most used play in Pitt's playbook. Normally, the
(LB,L1)
receiver is open on his curl for a nice 8-9 yard pick up. If he is
covered,
here is when this play becomes unstoppable. The (A,X) receiver runs the
best route in the game if you can get the timing down.
The key is to give him a bullet pass with precision towards the sideline
as
soon as he makes his cut towards the sideline.
If you timed it right, he will continue running and make the catch with
open field in front of him 9/10 times.

18) Gun - Doubles On – Double Cross
You're primary target is the (LB,L1) receiver after he makes his cut to
the
middle. If the linebackers are in zone, consider passing to the (A,X)
receiver with a lead pass towards the sideline.

19) Gun - Doubles On – FL Drive
A play similar to the one above, except you're secondary option is the
(X,Square) receiver rather than the (A,X)
Here's where this play becomes deadly. If you notice, all of the
receivers
either are running towards the right side, or staying on the right side.
This leaves the entire left side of the field wide open for the HB and a
quick pass. Beat his man and you're looking at a 15 yard pick up since
the safety should be occupied with either the (LB,L1) receiver, or the
(A,X) on the other side of the field.

20) Gun - Doubles On – Slants Middle (Zone Coverage)
This play tears apart the zone. I like to run this anywhere from 2-4
times
in a row if my opponent insists on using zone. All of the receivers are
good options on this play, but the main threat comes from the (A,X)
receiver as he usually is able sneak under the radar towards the
sideline
for a nice and easy 5 yard pickup. This is also an ideal play when in
clock
trouble, since you can easily run out with the (A,X) receiver to stop
the
clock.
Please refer to offensive strategy for learning the best methods of
hitting your receiver on the quick slant.
