how to tell the difference between cover 2 and cover 4

hey guys i would like to kno how to tell the differce between cover 2 and cover 4 right b 4 the snap. I understand when u motiion a reciever and if the defender does not follow him it's zone. but what i want to know is after i do that i want to be able to recongnize which coverage it is.

read the linebackers. If they go back its cover 4, if they move to the flats it 2

usually the top safties will be in the same place in either play however in cover 4 the conners play off the outside receivers by a yard or 2 and are closer to the sidelines...

u cant but for some reason the cover 2 and 4 are the same from 09 position and all thats y i spot it b4 the snap...

the difference between cover 2 and cover 4 before snap is how the corner is playering...if your opponent doesnt bump the wr in cover 4 the corners will be shading the wr's outside sholder...another option is if the corners back up off the wr's...reading cover 2 vs cover 4 if your opponent does bump and run you wat u need to look at is the safties...occastionally the safties will cheat and be a little more spread out than usual thats cover 2...another tell that it may be cover 4 are the slot defenders...if its dollar it will be corners if its 3-4 it will be the backers...now wat to look for again is shading...if the defender over the slot wr is at a slant facing the qb and not the wr's its usually cover 4.

1st thing you need to do is motion a receiver to see if its man or zone, if they follow you most likely its 2man under. if its zone they wont follow you, and if they dont follow you just snap the ball and look at the cornerback, if he drops back its cover 4, if he comes forward its cover 2 if he stays put its cover 2 sink.

or read the linebackers.
If the linebackers drop back deeper than normal in the yellow zone its cover 4.
if you see them stay where they are or even move closer like towards the the flats or contain its cover 2.
